So what the hell happens from here..
The Feds/NSW/SA have all said investigations are now complete and no charges are being laid..
Do they hang this guy over an allegation?

Given the victim is unable to present information, it’s hard for him to defend himself
He may/may not get charged but politically he’s gone

Will cause a by election, labor could pick it up
I don't think he will have to resign from the Liberal party. But probably the ministry. Depends how hard the media go at him.

It's an awful situation. Obviously for the woman involved, but also for the guy. He is ruined and there is no way he can defend himself.

Regardless of guilt or innocence;
allegation = gone?

Unfortunately yeah pretty much
Hard to prove yourself innocent publicly in this situation

That is the fact of it.
I suspect you’re right he’ll step down as a minister, as fronting up to a press conference there’s always a chance someone’s going to ask the question.
itll take away from his portfolio.
But I doubt he’ll step down as a member of parliament.

But that doesn’t have anything to do with the initial allegation.
if foul play is suspected, then wow, opens up a massive can of worms.
no, I wasn't suggesting foul play, but as I understand it, the woman who made the allegations took her own life, in which case her state of mind in relation to the alleged events will likely be canvassed, esp. as it appears she was discussing them with close friends, who presumably could/may be asked to appear before the coroner

That’s where I’ll go out on a limb, he may get advice that means he walks away, he will cop a swing against him so wether it’s a by election or to the next election, that’s his political career gone

Worked with a cockney bloke years ago that got me listening to the Clash. Really like their music

WA voters may not forgive and forget the Liberals' coronavirus border stance in time

By Jacob Kagi

Posted Saturday 8 August 2020

"The Morrison Government's view on border closures is clear, that borders should be open," Federal Attorney-General Christian Porter said in June.
The Commonwealth went as far as to intervene in Clive Palmer's High Court challenge, supporting the mining billionaire's legal demand that WA welcome back visitors from around the country.

"There is no doubt that those sort of borders do harm the economy, they do harm jobs and it is important that we get those removed as soon as possible," Prime Minister Scott Morrison said in May.

Porter already unpopular.

In the court of public opinion he is ****ed. None of this innocent until proven guilty shit.

The toxic atmosphere at the moment means he will never recover from this and will drag the government down if he stays.

Caeser’s wife must not only be innocent, but be seen to be innocent.

Is it fair? Probably not. But then is the breaks at the grownups table.

Turnbull is being very interesting here around a Coronial inquest.

If it were shown in nan inquest that people within government, either elected members or more likely staffers, were pressuring her to drop the complaint which she did, just before taking her life, well, hmmmmmm.

This x a million.

The key question is why she withdrew her complaint with NSW Pol.

I suspect Malcolm Turnbull knows a WHOLE LOT that he's not going to say, but is very keen for a Coronial inquest to uncover.

The really interesting thing her is her friends.

These are very smart, successful, well connected people in their own right, many with public profiles.

They would know full well what going could mean - getting The Treatment.

That so many of them are willing to go public, all with the same story, is very very interesting.

Especially when Porter won't offer anything beyond I didn't do it and you have to believe me also I'm having a blub now.

He has no competing version of events. He has no alibi.

All he has is blah blah it was 33 years ago, I was young, it didn't happen.

It is hardly a convincing account of his side of things.

If that’s the case, I wonder what the recommendations of the inquest will be.
Truely becomes a story of who knew what when..

Inquest can't make any serious recs, NSW Pol can't prosecute a rape case when complainant is dead.

It is what might come out during an inquest that would be fascinating.

Phone records especially.
