Yeah. Remember they didn’t want to have EBA rates? They took the cfmeu to court and all that?

There’s no coincidence in the drop in the standard of builds and lower wages. The better tradesmen work for themselves or just work for mobs that play in the EBA sector. Half the subbies aren’t even tradesmen on non eba construction sites...then people wonder why every new apartment building is a fire trap and there is water leaks on every balcony.

I'm not sure the demand for building and construction drops just because a company goes out of action.

If the demand is still there then someone else will move in to soak it up. If it's not there, then that's a wider sign of the economy struggling.

First time I heard of her she was a guest on Tim Dillons podcast talking about the merging of government and tech companies for what’s been dubbed the 4th revolution. Very interesting, but I just wondered how credible she was. Certainly she spoke with authority and referenced what individuals and companies have done and are planning on doing.

I checked out her Twitter feed all she’s been going on about is the COVID-19 vaccine, which has made me wonder if she’s just a conspiracy theory nut or legit.

I'm not really familiar with her past work but like I said, in this instance it's probably worth doing a bit of cross-checking.

If you refer back to my post you'll see that I only mentioned the reason why MintPress News made it on the PropOrNot list, not that the list itself was any kind of 'verifier of truth'. Quite the opposite in fact, if you refer to the sentence directly following my mention of the list where I didn't at all use it as a basis upon which to adjudge MintPress.

Due to the PON list's shady orchestration that you mentioned in your post, discussion around who made the list does inadvertently become a subject of interest, but that's peripheral to the point being made here/now. I am in full agreement with you that the PON list is meaningless in terms of assessing a news outlet's worth (and again made no mention of same). But yeah, all things considered, I'd say my advice to do some cross-checking in this instance is pretty sound.

Basically a good practice is reading the news and seeing if they have any declassification docs or wikileaks docs they reference, that way you can easily verify the original source for yourself.

Agreed. Doesn't always yield results, but it's a useful practice.

Can't say Hoj, I've never had my car licked by wildlife...yet.

They're going after all the salt that accumulates on cars off the roads in winter here. I suppose it happens when people stop to let them cross the road. Which you kind of have to do when it's a moose!

Bit of a stuck between a moose and a hard place though, cos it pisses them off if you try to slowly go around them.

The following is an abbreviated first-hand account from someone who was there with Ben when it happened, but apologies if it later comes out that there are any inaccuracies.

A couple of nights ago, Ben was in Healesville visiting a mate who moved there a couple of years ago. The two of them and a few others (not sure of the exact size of their party) headed down the pub for some beers. There was a group of older locals there, and at some point during the night these older locals started hitting on and generally hassling the crap out of a group of girls that were at the pub. Seeing the girls' obvious distress and acting through chivalrous intent, Ben and his group tried to get between the girls and the locals that were harassing them, which caused some friction. Upon closing, the friction traveled into the carpark. Shortly thereafter, out of nowhere, Ben was king hit with a coward punch to the temple. He was knocked unconscious, and then hit his head on the ground upon falling. He was emergency air-lifted to Royal Melbourne Hospital where he underwent brain surgery and now lies in an induced coma.

One of those things in life that leaves you numb and speechless. Very difficult to make sense of it all. A bright young kid's life isn't meant to turn out like that. Just unspeakable sadness for Ben's family and friends, of which I am one, also.

Sounds sadly similar to the Pat Cronin incident. My footy club has a connection through a teammate and Pat Cronins dad, so as a club we have been supportive with fundraising and general promotion of the Pat Cronin Foundation. Sh1t like this needs to stop, it wrecks so many lives.
