I imagine more than a few hypotheticals for those arguments. Very deep stuff.
Alot of it I didn't understand til later^. But it got me thinking.

Dad was obviously heavily influenced by the idea of karma. Which is actually closer to the idea of kismet (ie fate,) in Jewish and Arabic traditions than to how we think about to it these days.

^lol Yeah right... "understand" ha ha. As if.

LOL, look at this *******, he's one of the fiercest anti China hawks too, in the "wolverines".

Such a mind blowing subject. Even the experts of the field say that anyone that says they completely understand it are lying.

Sorry mate, but that reads like complete & utter postmodernist wankage to me.

Faux intellectuals take liberties with quantum physics.

Yeah I know. Hence my comment. You have the subtlety of a sledgehammer lol. Unless you are referring to my comment and not the article? I’ve listened to 3 different quantum physicists and it seems the only thing they agree on is the math, all had different views on the possibilities.

Quantum physics is incomplete. Persons who take liberties with it for their own purposes rely on it being absolute. Heisenberg has given rise to a tidal wave of fruit loops.

Reality shaped consciousness over time (evolution), not the other way around. If the cyanobacteria had not given rise to the great oxidation event, then you, I and our consciousness would not be here to engage in mental masturbation like this.

He might. He’s a lot bigger. It’s a ridiculous matchup. Imo it’ll be a very boring fight because of the size mismatch. Mayweather will probably just slip him for the majority of the fight and beat him on points, unless Paul tires then Mayweather will stop him.
It's an exhibition fight....not a sanctioned fight governed by a state athletic commission.

Just like Tyson v Jones. Tyson wasn't allowed to hit his Jones in the head, fight would be called off if one of the fighters started to bleed etc

Similar things will be put in place for this event.

Don't buy it.

I won’t buy that rubbish.

How the **** do they dream up these names for papers?! :D

BTW, footprints have been found in Crete which throw the entire "out of Africa" model for a wobbly.

And you're an evolutionary biologist.

Look maybe one day you'll develop an intellect that can understand this stuff, but I'm not holding my breath.

That doesn't mean consciousness has to understand reality as it is to function in it. The sky isn't blue and chips aren't salty. These are all interpretations of reality made by your consciousness for its own reasons. And that isn't even the point this Hoffman guy is making.

Poo pooing ideas cos you don't actually understand them is is the last resort of the intellectually challenged.

And furthermore consciousness has shaped reality. Look around you (anyone reading this comment,) and pick the things that weren't shaped by consciousness. There is a fair chance every single thing you are surrounded by right now existed in someones imagination before it did in reality. We wouldn't even be having this discussion if that were true.

I'll leave the woo woo in your capable hands.

You idiot.

Typical response when you are shown to be wrong.

We don't need to understand reality to function in it. Even the most basic levels of physics ie Newtonian physics are something we as a species didn't "know" until the last 500 years of our 150 - 250 thousand years. To know "reality" took another 500 years. it isn't necessary to anything other than the most basic rudiments of existence to be able to navigate the world - to shelter, feed and then breed.

One thing quantum physics and Heisenberg shows is that we don't have the sensory input or nervous suystem to understand reality properly. WE didn't evolve to be able to know some building block's exact position and momentum (ie reality,) because it is pretty irrelevent. It doesn't get you food, stop you being food or get you laid.

You can almost pull it off when you don't post at all...........but then you go ahead and post rubbish anyway.
