According to the article it only kept stuff that could be directly verified and the creators identified. I guess that means they are worried about things like revenge pr0n or stuff that isn't consensual (geddit) being published on their platform, plus child abuse obviously. It could be said that as soon as they became aware of the potential for that they deleted everything that could possibly be sketchy (... well sketchier.) So they are abviously worried about pay outs and other legal hassles.

10 million videos. It seems like alot but its probably like that time they busted that boat with 800kgs of heroin and it didn't even cause a blip in the street price. Probably take a week to replace it.

Both Trump and Tulsi Gabbard want changes to the Communications Decency Act, well to section 230 of it. It gives gives big publishers like Twitter and Facebook immunity from legal consequences for what gets published on their platforms. Maybe not just them, dunno enought to really say. Crimes aren't covered tho. Tulsi and trump want it gone. Pornhub is obviously a big publisher as well and they have just dumped over three quarters of their content. Imagine if facebook or instagram did that or if twitter just nuked every account without a little blue tick.

On the face of it its easy to say "Its just pr0n, who cares," I'm sure there's plenty more where that came from (Pornhub still has 3 million plus vids according to that article) but its a bit of a cunning stunt stunning precedent.
