This is a very interesting episode of JRE. Potentially revolutionary for anyone with PTSD or CTE or even depression. I’ll be looking into this for sure. The conversation about it starts around half hour in, not that the start isn’t interesting and worth a listen.

I had a listen to a bit of Gordon's stuff. He's a bit of a Maverick life extension type figure.

I was already aware of the vitamin D/K2 (menaquinone) stuff and have been supplementing for over a year now.

I found the part about how hard the bureaucrats make it infuriating

The idiots have all the power.

Disregarding laws has now become a sign of intelligence.

Do they publish transcripts?

Folks 45 & over should consider a simple non invasive test for arterial calcium as a part of their health regime.

I'm in a good place, but an increase was noted over a 5 year period between testing, so after reading lots of papers, I decided to make myself a test subject for the Vit D/K2 supplementation. Apparently it works by shuttling free blood serum Ca2+ ions back in to the bones and away from the arterial architecture. It's the accumulation of cholesterol plaques in conjunction with the binding of these free Ca2+ ions which leads to hardened arteries.

If you're 45-50, and particularly if you have a family history of heart disease or elevated cholesterol, then you should consider combining these tests every 3-5 years.

The scan and analysis:

This bloke is glad he did it:

Utilise this in combination with the stress test:

But it's taken me years of extra salt to strengthen those bloody things 🙃 My cholesterol is/was perfectly fine - whatever that meant - 6 months ago, still worth the consideration?

1) The salt thing is another overblown fallacy.
2) Salt (sodium chloride) doesn't contain calcium ions.

How old are you?
Family history of heart disease?

Cutting back on dairy with age is a good general tip, and stay away from calcium supplements unless a G.P. recommends it.

Tbh I rarely add salt anyway, just running with the myth. 51 and flying :-) No family history of any illness, thankfully, though I did give my right hammy a bit of a tweak 3 weeks ago :-0 After all, my dads side is from Germany, and they invented the master race and all that ;-)

Hope this works. Shows a family watching their son make his debut last night in the FA Cup

Sweet, at your age I recommend doing the calcium & stress tests to establish a starting base for future testing.

Both are cheap and non invasive.

I recommended a mate who has elevated cholesterol to go get the CT scan done, and he came back depressed that it was elevated. I then pointed out that he would have been really depressed if he didn't get it done and found himself on his back clutching his chest as the dark void opened up in front of him, and he had a complete change of heart*. He lost weight, got a lot fitter and now keeps a close eye on his count so he knows when to go in for an angioscope. It can definitely save/prolong your life mate.

*pun intended

Thanks for the info Snake, I fit into most of those categories so I will look further into it. Fore warned is fore armed.

White wine cures shin splints 👍
Jeepers I had them when I was in a more gunfighting occupation. Could run and run, but jeepers, pulling up killed to the point where I would just fall over at pace. Nasty fekkin ailment

Are there more papers on the link between calcium and heart issues? Doing a brief search shows mixed results.

My grandad and old man have both have history, why I'm more paranoid about my health.

Just flashed my 8 year old galaxy note 3 phone with lineage17.1 android 10. Does that make me a geek or a tight ass?
The first 2 words I thought you were at a park somewhere, then something about an old chocolate bar, and then, well, who knows what you were talking about 🙃
