Revolution is certainly in the air.
Has been an underlying current since 2008-09. New left and Trump-style populist politicians is indicative of that at the higher level.

The corporate bailouts of particular companies, and situations like gamergate, are almost akin to the uncontrolled ultra-capitalism of the 19th century. Alongside high national debt, high living costs and cronyism, I see the current system as under considerable strain. Social democracy may increase as a result in the USA, but we’ll see.

But what would I know, economics isn’t my area.

This Robinhood thing is absolutely insane. The piece they put out announcing why they're stopping people buying those stocks is a disaster. It's some of the most catastrophic PR seen in a long time. Six and a half thousand responses under the tweet in under 10 minutes. And the irony of their name is just so perfect. Haha holy sh*t.

Surely this episode is the most incontrovertible proof to even the most naive of people that the whole system is absolutely cooked, designed to make the rich get richer and nothing else.
Its time to burn the ****en thing down and using tools like Robinhood is the perfect way. We need an open source freeware type trading tool and a population of pissed of people with a couple of K to spare and we (as in the 99%) can do this.

I've have said repeatedly that the biggest mistake Obama made was not putting a couple of Wall Street types up for big widely publicised trials after the bailout.

Coming so hot on the heels after the Iraq War is proved to so many Americans that all politicians were crooks who lied and were in on it.

Spot on.

Acting in pure self-interest undermines free markets. Unbridled capitalism, where pure self-interest reigned in the 19th century, is untenable. Capitalism only works with free and FAIR markets where the little man can have a fair crack at making it big. Social democracy a safety net. Interfering in the market for your wall street mates only creates a legitimacy crisis.

They are organising a protest right now on the capital

That's not going to do shit.

Thing that makes the GameStop situation so terrifying for the elite is the way it showe4d their own system can be used against them.

Their only response was a hysterical overreaction that proves the are full of shit.

Need more of those.

Or a general strike lol.

It’s the whole reason why trumpism exists..

They could just temporarily placate the current masses by unbanning stuff and restrict shorting, which has its uses, but has become nearly unchecked.

I'm old enough to remember when Gordon Brown banned shorting after the UK banking system collapsed.

Nothing wrong with shorting in principle. Its a fair way to regulate bubbles isn't it? I'm no economitrician or whatever the call themselves.

It has its purposes, but its overuse has lead to ‘problems’.

Not the whole, but a substantial part.

It was why he attracted so many ex-democrats in 2016.
Yeah i agree. Would have been harder to atroturf the original tea baggers with a few of the 1% facing serious consequences. It was one of the things that cost Obama credibity imo. It certainly did with me.
