No, the question is how do we continue to live in a world where 12 million underage girls are married off without their consent every year? At least, that should be the question, if you are genuinely concerned about the sexual exploitation of underage girls, as it seemed that the initial criticism of the clip I posted was purported to be.

It's not because of a lack of understanding about the world. Child marriage is legal throughout Canada, with the majority of those marriages being underage girls married off to older men. We are understood to be a progressive country. And those men are marrying girls because they can.

Concern for the sexual exploitation of underage girls is a worthy thing to bring up, but it's disingenuous to just point the finger at a handful of famous musicians. We've got a much bigger problem in our world than them.

Thanks for clearing that up. I don't see anywhere that he's a convicted sex offender though, just that the article is about the power of celebrity and that he was one of many who have indulged in what was a fairly common consensual practice for the era. Which of course, isn't ideal. But if we're going to go down that road, I'd far rather hear more outrage and see more fingers pointed at the 650 million arranged child marriages that have been forced on underaged women globally to date. Every year 12 million girls are married off before the age of 18. 12 percent of those are under the age of 15. And that's without their consent.

So yeah, rock stars sleeping with groupies isn't great. But I think we've got far bigger problems in our world when it comes to the sexual exploitation of underage women.

It's actually not. I understand the angst around this, but it's an algorithm thing that most review sites, such as Metacritic for example, have. When there's an excessive influx of negative reviews they generally get deleted as a matter of course to prevent review bombing. I'm not arguing that it's right, but it's not about the whole Wall Street/Robinhood thing.
