nothing of the kind mate, just pointing out that all that material is still available, could have used Eddie Murphy delerious or Ford Fairlane/andrew dice clay as an example if you have an issue with my reference to Au productions,

EDIT: and fwiw some might consider the term "american culture" a bit of an oxymoron.
Comparing modern edgy comedians who’s job it is to push the boundaries to historical books written around the turn of the last century.. contextually they are nothing alike.

it’s like pointing at ‘meet the feebles’ and saying Mickey Mouse should be banned..

That’s sort of the point I was making before. Comedians are pushing back against cancel culture. Comedians have a history of paving the way for the fight for free speech. Cops used to wait for Lenny Bruce to say the wrong thing and drag him off stage and arrest him. Carlin too. If Patrice O’Neal were alive today he’d rip this woke sh*t apart.
and rodney was banned from performing in queensland, the thing with stand up comedian shows is that its the ultimate censorship model, if someone is offended by it the dont drive to the venue , pay the admission at the foyer and sit through the show. cant get much straight forward than that surely?

That doesn't really say anything the other article doesn't, except for some corporate speak.

I read it differently.
Yeah, I just haven't seen any groundswell of anti seuss sentiment so to me it reads like a company moving to modernize it's product and cashing in on the way

It’s almost like you’ve just ignored or compartmentalised the six months of violent protests that happened over there..

You assume that emotionally motivated people are capable of rational comparisons?

How is removing a product cashing in? Signalling their wokness so people still buy the books?

What makes you think that I "buy in to it" when I point it out & criticize it?
I guess i just have a different mindset re this than you, by all means this wasn't a barb its just I don't even find it newsworthy or anything special, let alone alarming. did you ever here of the Parents Music Resource Center going after Blackie Lawless in the early 80s or various christian evangelists hounding KISS claiming their name was an acronym for "knights in satans service.? this crap is far from new,

And heres a turn for the books, Blackie Lawless is now a born again christian himself!

the irony is if it wasnt for the PMRC nobody prolly would have known who WASP were.

There often never is a massive groundswell of sentiment when something gets cancelled, often just a tiny fragment on social media yelling this is racist, sexist, transphobic, etc.

In this case, a tiny group of academics have pushed for a ban since 2017. It’s a pure image exercise. I hate using the term, but it is a form of corporate virtue signalling. They don’t want to be smeared as racist and have that image.

It must be in line with your own beliefs...............which facilitates the oppression of beliefs you don't happen to share.

Y'see.............the bizarre twist in the western world is that I am actually the "liberal"................and the so called "liberals" are now straight up dictatorial!!!!

Postmodernism has gradually turned the entire world on it's head.

Music is the same. 2 live crew fought to be able to preform their music, often getting arrested at shows but eventually won a court battle and they paved the way for rap. I guess I’m just a bit concerned that the end result of cancel culture is a step back into censorship and conservatism, which is ironic because it’s being lead by the left.

surely your not suggesting they had any connection to a few kids books being discontinued by the publisher?

Are you even aware of how you apply flippancy to straight out censorship?

What's more likely- a childrens book company making a big show about how progressive they are or a protest movement's academic allies forcing the hand of a company to remove their product from shelves?

Prolly gonna be one of those pendulum kinda things, will bias one way then back to the other, it also seems to differ in different regions at different times, the regeion bohemia in northern czech republic at one time was considered unique to the rest of european culture so much at one stage the term is routinely used today to explain a mindset different to the norm. travelling through CR today yu wouldnt find anything terribly unusual with their culture other than an abundance of lovely brewed beer!

Have you met many academics?
over analysing without context to create outrage, is their bread and butter..

You quoted me, so the idea of getting the context is on you.

They aren’t mutually exclusive things. One is used as a pretext for another in this case.
