Oh for the days when one of these privileged inbreds died and the jokes really flowed.within a day of Mountbatten being blown up in his boat:

This was the version I remember.

"What's red and flies above the ocean at 100mph?"

Some of you gentlemen (and ladies if it's applicable) need to to take a good long hard look at yourselves. The downright disrespectful comments toward the late Duke of Edinburgh are not funny or do you as individuals any credit. The late Duke did commit himself to a lifetime of Service. It started back when he served in the Royal Navy during WW2. Have any of you served your country in war? Yes, he married a very privilleged woman but a life in Royal Service is hardly a walk in the park, and I think you all realise that. His work thrugh "The Duke of Edinburgh Awards", being patron to countless charities and institutions, being a husband and confidant as well as playing second fiddle to the Queen, and his support to the Armed Forces of Britain (Colonel Commandant of the Royal Marines) and to the Australian Army (Field Marshall of the Australian Army since 1954 and the Head of Corps of the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) deserve respect. He wasn't perfect and never pretended to be. He at least was himself and would have treated any of you with far greater respect and dignity than you are showing to him.

Of course some of you may dismiss your comments and remarks as 'just jokes'. But let me assure you that they are highly inappropriate. There's a time and a place gentlemen, and if any of you have any moral decency, you'll delete those posts.
Nah, **** him and the horse he rode in on.

You can respect royalty all you like, its a free country.

To contextualise your post. He only just turned 18 at the time himself, had known her since 1934, were second cousins-once-removed, asked for permission to marry in 1946 and waited until she was 20. Still creepy.
Yep, but I'd have said that no matter how you described him.

I don't know anything about the royals full stop.
But good on you for calling this juvenile mob mentality out.

Have you seen this:

?

Just remember the Royals are the highest ranked artistos...

No, it doesn't faze me one bit.
I thought it was a bit harsh.

And a poster observed it as offensive to her.

Posting jokes about someone's death is a bit insensitive.

I'd imagine the outrage at george floyd jokes.

The hypocrisy is not lost.

Anyway carry on..

George Floyd wasn't a baby eating lizard monster from dimension X!!1!

people do make those jokes.

How do you think they are similar anyway?

Ohh the emphasis, African American..

So that's what matters when joking about a death.

So a jokes not a joke

One of them was a festy old campaigner who married into the sleaziest Eurotrash family in history, who lived a life of luxury off the back of his ancestors thieving and lying then died of old age and the other was just a punter trying to make it against the odds who was murdered by a cop.

I see, it's cool to poke jokes on the grave of a white, privileged ,male.
(Who may have lived an honourable life)

Yet it's not cool to do the same to a black, minority, underprivileged person.
(Who may have lived a shameful life)

The thing is , you're one of the biggest social justice warriors on BF.

I think dead man jokes are not cool full stop.

I fail to understand how a "compassionate" activist does not realize this

The emphasis is on the power disparity. And you literally raised Floyd as the comparison

Idiot.

You don't disguise your hatred, so no criticism there.
The other bloke, is a social justice fraud.

To contextualise your post. If an ordinary bloke did that they’d call it grooming and he’d spend years in jail, not in a palace.

These people sucking up to the likes of Phillip as if he wouldn't have treated them like dogshit on his shoe if they ever actually met beyond some duty where he tried to pretend not to be a massive hird.
Wow. Autocorrect now does synonyms as well.

the funniest and saddest thing about prince phillip dying is they transplanted a healthy heart into his body like, one month ago. they had to have known he was about to die, why did they waste a perfectly good heart? i hope the family of the organ donor didn't find out where their relative's heart went.

I'm pretty sure the caption to this photo would be something along the lines of: "This is where I stashed the recording device that I used to get all that dirt on you and your mates. Keep smiling and laughing for the cameras d*ckhead".

You can do without the childish first part. As I said, creepy dude and can definitely be interpreted as grooming (haven’t seen the letters myself, so it’s guesswork), but the context is a bit different to most grooming cases. Both were fairly close in age, nothing happened beyond letter writing until she was 20 and he asked her own father for marriage, who knew about the letters. The letters aren’t news to the general public either.

Rather undignified and uncivilised those that are dancing on the grave of a still warm corpse at the moment. Doesn’t matter if you’re a royal, bogan, black, white, red, green....whatever. The dead and those in mourning deserve a bit of respect.

They were close in age? One was an adult, the other a minor.

Saying he just turned 18 is like a bottlo refusing you service because you just turned 18

Dude, I said it was creepy and was probably grooming. I was merely making the point that it isn’t a typical case, not excusing it like you seem to be insinuating of me. Most grooming cases aren’t that close in age and there was no physical relationship until she was 20. In most cases, grooming is used for grooming children for sex or abuse, not waiting seven years until she is an adult of age to begin a physical relationship.

“From July 1939, he began corresponding with the then thirteen-year-old Princess Elizabeth, whom he had first met in 1934.”

And he is not the Head of Corps of RAEME. He is Colonel-In-Chief.

And your point is? The Head of Corps directly liaisons with the Colonel in Chief so you have elevated and acknowledged his importance. So why disrespect him?

On the subject of the 13 year old Princesses relationship ... well she was future Queen of England even then her every move would have been watched and scrutinised. He'd have been considered a reasonably safe bet in 1939 given his distant royal heritage to her and the fact that he was a young Naval Officer. In 1939 he would have been accepted as a pen friend (all her letters would have been read) and his background thoroughly scrutinised. There's no way he'd have gotten within two miles of her if he was in any way a creep.
