The protest organisers are shown to be trying to act in good faith and stop excess violence in that twitter thread, time and time again. "Opportunists and other individuals" did this but not the cops? Despite evidence of them doing it on that thread and elsewhere. Like the video of cops lining the proposed route of a BLM march with piles of rocks in the hours leading up to it.

I have seen those a few brick claims and then did some background checking. Those brick claims, at least cited in the following articles, are false charges and misinformation.

I have seen those a few brick claims and then did some background checking. Those brick claims, at least cited in the following articles, are false charges and misinformation.

In that twitter thread there is video of people in a car trying to give bricks to someone who refuses them and tries to chase the car away.

Last years riots made up less than 10% of last years BLM protests. Its a pity that so many people, including you, would ignore 90% + non rioting behaviour.

The US will see much worse soon too. You can't funnel so much public money up the food chain without seeing things get tense.

I disagree but I don't wholly disagree. People who use #BLM are essentially a grass roots movement. But there are other organisations associated with BLM like BLMGN (GN means Global Network). And its the point where it goes from individuals posting in response to an event or organising together locally to that larger organisation where what you talk about - astroturfing essentially - becomes possible and starts to happen. Cannot comment on the first one you mentioned as I haven't seen it, maybe it didn't warrant an explanation, the context is missing. People in a car, did you know they were cops or other people of ill-repute or the FBI up to its old tricks?

As I said way back when I first talked about the Floyd murder and protests, I supported the broader protests and need for badly needed police/justice/economic reform. I just didn't like a small minority of people detracting from the main drive for change by rioting. In response, I was called a racist by a certain poster, a view that was not called out by most people in this thread, which was beyond insulting.

Regardless, my views on reform have not changed and I support the need to address inequality.

When did you say it earlier? I've quoted everything we said about it to that point. If you had acknowledged it I would have agreed about the brand damage and made the obvious point that the people who have the most to gain from discrediting BLM are the people BLM is primarily a protest against - police forces in the US.

Phoebe Lee Bennett, 18, appeared in Busselton Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday charged with exceeding the speed limit by more than 10km/h.

It is alleged Ms Bennett was driving 127km/h in a 110km/h zone on Bussell Highway in December, a charge which traditionally involves a simple $200 fine.
When asked to confirm her identity and whether she understood the charge, Ms Bennett said: “I answer to the name Phoebe of the Bennett family ... I do not consent to the contract as a sovereign citizen.”

Followers of the freeman sovereign citizens movement, also known as SovCits, believe they are only bound by laws if they verbally consent, and that co-operation with police is akin to entering into a contract with a corporation.

The group was labelled a potential terrorist threat by NSW Police in 2015.

Taking Ms Bennett’s answer as a not-guilty plea and listing her matter for a one-hour trial next week, Magistrate Andrew Maughan slammed her freeman sovereign citizen movement as misguided and uninformed.

“Let me give you a quick legal lesson — the nonsense you have just spilled has been considered by the highest court in this country and the highest courts in other countries — it will get you nowhere,” he said.

“You are simply wasting your time and wasting this court’s time if you’re going to rely upon possible conditional argument whether this court has jurisdiction to deal with this matter or not.”

Continuing her stance, when the matter was set for trial, Ms Bennett asked the magistrate if he was asking her to leave, saying if she left the matter would be final.

I thought it was clear I took notice of the majority of the non rioting behaviour by the statement above. If they were rioters, I would have called them rioters, not (peaceful) protesters. Maybe I should have made the peaceful part more overt, but I thought the insinuation of using the word protester was clear enough as most people think protesters are peaceful, which isn't wrong.

Yea, that's why I used the words proper and just to describe reform. I was talking about riots a lot more because that was the topic of our discussion, whilst not dismissing the value of the 90% protests.
