Could go either way. Things could stay the same or get worse if he gets off. people are protesting and rioting cos there has been years of people getting off. IIRC after the King verdict there were riots in many cities in the US, not just in LA. It was alot worse than reported.

I think he's more likely to go tho.

Yeah it was full on for sure. Remember watching it TV as a kid and being in a weird sort of awe of it.

This one caused international unrest though. He just has to go.

Lol the dude faked being in his basement with COVID. Isn’t he being recalled? Or is that Newsom? I always get those two fakes missed up
Not sure, but the heat only got turned on him after the sexual harassment stuff came out, not the nursing home stuff. At least most people know now.

I got them mixed up. They’re all so crooked. I was listening to this thing the other day about de Blasio’s wife being responsible for hundreds of millions of dollars missing.

Remind me, was it that he put COVID patients back into the nursing home system or fudge the numbers?

It is a NY times article, so grain of salt. I think the FBI are investigating atm.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, once widely celebrated for leading New York out of the coronavirus pandemic’s darkest days, is now embroiled in crisis over how many of the state’s nursing home residents died because of the virus and an apparent effort to hide the true toll.

Beginning last spring, Mr. Cuomo was criticized over a state requirement that forced nursing homes to take back residents who had been hospitalized with Covid-19 once they recovered. The policy’s critics said it had increased the number of virus-related deaths among nursing home residents.

At the time, Mr. Cuomo and his aides dismissed the outcry as politically motivated, and in July, the State Health Department released a report that found the policy was not responsible for an increase. The report did, however, raise questions in some quarters about how the state was reporting deaths.

In January, New York’s attorney general said the administration had undercounted nursing home deathsby several thousand. Mr. Cuomo later acknowledged as much, blaming the lower figure on fears that the Trump administration would use the data as a political weapon.

Pretty mortifying tbh.
Yeah, not good. I knew someone in Seattle involved with the city council. They told me a bit about it, showed me some of the police newsletter's that ended up being leaked to a Seattle paper known as The Stranger.

Williams (who was shot,) was a homeless indigenous guy who carved wood and lived on the streets. Everyone knew him. He wasn't a trouble maker but was a very gentle person. The carving knife he was using was unlikely to have caused a serious wound and he was a feeble older man vs a cop trained in unarmed combat to a point. As far as I can tell that was the first of the shootings associated with what became BLM. But there may be earlier ones. And that is aside from drug related killings by police and other stuff that is probably legitimate. (Well as legitimate as the state killing someone can be.)

I'm assuming you watched that video. (The action all happens by 2 minutes for those that haven't.) Officer Birk just seems so cold blooded about it all. He has his gun drawn before he enters the frame of the dashcam, so when he exited the car basically. Doesn't identify himself and shoots immediately after giving a warning. No one would have time to react to the warning before Birk started shooting.

Definitely got sociopath vibes.

No real surprises there. The video evidence was very strong, although I suspect external pressure of nationwide riots if he was not guilty, and the city settling beforehand, was always going to guarantee this outcome regardless. Still the right decision.

I rewatched the video last night (as bad as that is) to just check if I didn’t get caught up with it the first time and it’s honestly horrible what he did. He did it out of pure spite and ego.

It is the metaphorical lynching that has been going on for centuries in that country.

It just happened to be caught by a member of the public and broadcast to the world.

50 years ago, in the same circumstances he would have walked.

Said at the time it was enough to convict him there and then. Not sure I’ll 100% understand the motives to be perfectly honest.

Watch it again from start to finish and you’ll probably change your mind.
Don’t need to, it’s too morbid for me to watch again anyway. The video doesn’t answer what is truly going through his head, only he can say. We can guess though.

Manchester United out too.
All 12 clubs massively misread the lay of the land on this one. There is the potential that this could see the exiting of American ownership from Liverpool and United given the huge and almost unanimous uproar from all of footballs stakeholders to their actions which emphasised just how little they actually care for or understand the fabric of their clubs.

Everton released a statement in which they referred to the 12 clubs' preposterous arrogance. Perfectly summed up really.

Now these 12 need to look at their own shoddy performance in managing their finances now that their cash cow saviour is dead in the water.

I am a life long United supporter, back to the days of Ron Atkinson, and would rather see United relegated while trying to right the financial ship than do this thing. My hope is that this leads to the departure of the Glazer family after now seeing that Ed Woodward has resigned.

It’s a disgraceful act. It’s really shocking how long he stayed on his neck after he stopped moving. The police officer that was called to the seen realises straight away that he’s gone, walks straight up and checks his pulse, calls the paramedics over and they put him on the gurney and it’s obvious he’s gone, never makes it into the back of the police car. Everyone at the seen knew that the cop had just killed him.

And you’re 100% right. Now everyone has a camera and it makes it undeniable. Cop apologists want to talk about what happened before but none of that matters after the man pinned to the ground stopped resisting and the cop stayed there with his knee pushing his neck into the ground long after Floyd stopped moving.

Now everyone films the cops in almost every interaction they can’t get away with that anymore

Shame they could get some decent reforms through, due to disagreements over qualified immunity. Not sure funding cuts to police in some cities is going to help with training and attracting higher quality people.

People that were getting ready to riot & loot have to settle for feign joyous celebration*

*rioting & looting may still happen

#America

Oh, get ****ed with this nonsense.
