Isn’t the reason we’re behind other nations in getting vaccinated because the government stuffed up by not securing it when promised?
there doesnt seem to be much co-ordination in the vaccine rollout, seems to be a lot of mixed messages round here, stuff like if your under 50 you can go the a center at the end of the day and if there are some left you may be able to get one, screw that, be stuffed if iam hanging round a center to likely be told these no vaccines left and come back tomorrow?
i suspect this is due to the scarcity of the vacines?

Not surprised.

Wow.

There is some crazy shit in there. Some of that is flat out racist. - Don't marry arabs cos it'll dilute the purity of your blood line!!! Outright calls for genocide!! I'm sure its not everyone thinks that way, its obviously edited, but its pretty full on how open people are about this. WhereTF have we heard that before? And that is a kid saying it. Then he says they should go back to Iraq!!! Its sad. And ****ed up.

Man some of this stuff is insane. No chance of that situation being worked out if those attitudes are prevalent.

All this vaccine talk actually makes me think I should relate why I won't get it and see if anyone has had a similar experience and knows of options to get past it.

I'm absolutely not an anti-vax person and fully encourage everyone else to get it. Simply put, I have an utterly debilitating fear of needles. Even writing this is making my palms sweaty and making me feel a little squeamish. I've tried reading about options on how to get past it but even that is a challenge because images and even thinking and reading about needles makes me feel tingly and uncomfortable. I know that this fear is something that could eventually be life-threatening as well as it perniciously informs every way I think about my health. So much of it comes through the lens of, oh, ****, what if I need a needle?

Anyone here had a similar experience or knows someone like this? It's something I want to change but have no idea how to go about it because I can't even approach the subject with anything approaching rational thought.

Mate or mine struggled with this and ended up forcing himself to give blood routinely as exposure therapy.

Oof, I commend his courage. I don't think I could do that.

In fact, a few months ago I started watching the US version of The Office, and I could barely watch the episode (dunno if you've seen it) where they all donate blood. I don't think I've ever felt so uncomfortable watching a comedy show before.

Any tips on managing anxiety? I’ve gotten really bad anxiety due to external related matters and I don’t know how to deal with it, I’m feeling close to a mental breakdown.

Anything is appreciated, thanks x

Talk to someone qualified, my daughter suffered from it but has learnt coping techniques and it has worked wonders.

Go to your GP. They should be able to refer you to professional support. Get help and I am sure you will be ok. Sometimes it is difficult to find the right support but don't give up. Your GP should be your best way of finding the right professional.

Thanks for your help but my GP is the one who got me to go to headspace [emoji174]

While I don't agree with anti-vaxxers, Australia really is in a unique position where we can watch and wait a bit, after near complete eradication. The only way this virus runs rampant here is if we let it in. I don't see why we're rushing to vaccinate while it's running rampant and developing new strains in India. Should be pumping the vaccine doses as a concerted worldwide effort to where it's required, which right now we'd probably be at the bottom of the list.

That'd probably give us another 6 months to 12 months of data and may help to ease the concerns of those who fear that the vaccine may have been rushed.

If AZ is all that's on offer I won't be getting it, and that's on advice from my doctor.

Sorry mate, this is just wrong for a lot of reasons.

"Complete eradication" without vaccination is impossible. We are currently in a very dangerous period of time where complacency has well and truly set in and the longer this rollout takes the longer we will remain in that danger zone. If you think there is no possibility of a third wave you are hopelessly naive.

The problem is the vaccine rollout has become a political tool. Morrison would be crossing his fingers, toes & testicles that we can get through the winter without a serious outbreak but you have to hand it to him how he is able to manipulate the messaging to his advantage like a true sociopath.

Step 1: Completely **** up the vaccine rollout after talking a big game
Step 2: Get handed a golden opportunity with these blood clots and push the mixed media narrative of the AZ vaccine safety to a point where people are confused and less likely to want it
Step 3: Go HARDLINE border stance. This accomplishes two things:
- The (ever increasing amount of) people on the fence about the vaccine are happy because it's a "cautious" approach (because after all SCOMO is only concerned for their safety!)
- The xenophobic isolationists (of which there are plenty in this country) are happy because it aligns with their own views
Step 4: Try to leverage this support to Bradbury the election

You may be happy to watch and wait but I am certainly not. But I don't have the luxury to pick and choose when I get vaccinated.

It's not perfect, but go to another GP and ask for a mental health care plan. Give any psychologist they refer you to a couple of sessions at least, but don't over think it if you feel you need to change. Better to try a few than think the treatment isn't right for you if the first one doesn't work out.
Talk to some family and friends, you'd be surprised by how many people have kept their own anxiety to themselves but will jump at the chance to help you.
Most importantly, don't wait too long and don't feel you can't keep asking for help.

Then go back and tell him you need a plan B - there are plenty of other organisations. I'm sure your GP will be able to refer you to a different organisation - do it!

100%. Just telling the right people close to me helped me alleviate some anxiety because it removed the pressure of staying ‘on’ all the time.

From all reports because of the lack of people turning up to get vaccinated there’s about a 1/2 hour wait max.
