Spot on. This is why a lot of people are against cancel culture and deplatforming. It cuts both ways and will inevitably be used by people in positions of power.
It 100% exists and it 100% cuts both ways. The SLFs of the world are just as bad as the right-wing whingers that think they are the only ones being affected.

Problem with today society people are too busy fighting for a side rather then fighting for principle..It 100% exists and it 100% cuts both ways. The SLFs of the world are just as bad as the right-wing whingers that think they are the only ones being affected.
Both sides agree to a ceasefire by 2am today ( 9am AEST )
This is true, SLF has even said Trumps twitface ban should end..It’s a good discussion but when you make it personal with writing “The SLFs of the world” it makes it hard for me to engage in it.

The whole thing is abhorrent, and the argument, well it’s private enterprise, they can do want is stupid and ignores how intertwined with the state department they are…Probably true, was a bit of a cheap shot. I won't go back and edit it but I acknowledge I shouldn't have taken the cheap shot. He does have a tendency to act like it only happens to his side of politics, rather than that it obviously affects people of any political persuasion.

It doesn't work for everyone but if you can face what it is that makes you anxious go over it in your hed and plan out how to deal with all the shit things that can happen. its not gonna be much but its a start. I find planning how to take control of a situation is a start for dealing with that stuff.Any tips on managing anxiety? I’ve gotten really bad anxiety due to external related matters and I don’t know how to deal with it, I’m feeling close to a mental breakdown.
Anything is appreciated, thanks x

Also if you can plan around the situation that causes you anxiety focusing on the details of the plan when things get intense can help. As can rehearsing what you will do in your head.Any tips on managing anxiety? This has always happened tho.Spot on. This is why a lot of people are against cancel culture and deplatforming. It cuts both ways and will inevitably be used by people in positions of power.
This has always happened tho.
The only difference now is power is more evenly distributed in some situations (not real power tho, just a form of social control, real power is a s concentrated as its ever been.)
If the story is true it is very concerning.. it is working under the assumption that people can’t change their ideals..Agreed. I read an interesting discussion about the difference between "platform" and "publisher" about 12 months ago, can't remember where. Social media companies want to act as a platform by law, which means that they are not legally responsible for what gets said on their platforms. But they also want to control what people say and remove things that are not in line with their views on things (can be either leftist views, eg criticisms of Israel's attacks on Palestine, or right-wing views, eg views on transgenders in women's sports), which is acting like a publisher. So they want the best of both worlds, and it's wrong when you consider the power they have over people. You just need to go back and read TMB's posts on social media's hold on his dad - it's insidious and it gets such a hold over people that there needs to be legitimate consideration given to how these companies act.
In fairness to SLF, his example of cancel culture was a good one (I just don't like his framing that it only affects one political persuasion). Very scary when people are losing jobs because of tweets or posts from years ago, over things which are not black and white. Pretty concerning situation.
Yeah i agree with most of that. Not opposed to "terrorists" getting their views aired tho.True. That’s exactly why it’s an issue. Free speech (not that we technically have it is Australia) is a relatively new thing. There definitely are some extreme examples where people need to be removed, like people that encourage terrorism for example should not be given a platform on prominent social media sites like Twitter or Facebook.
Your point is correct though, eventually the most powerful, ie governments will silence people. Slightly off topic, look at how the Democrats used the media to bury any negativity around Biden, the ceo of one of the major news outlets over there, think it was CNN was caught on tape recently bragging to a girl he was trying to pickup that they conspired to only have positive reporting around Biden and negative reporting around Trump to help Biden win the election. I’m no fan of Trump but I’m definitely not in favour of the news trying to shape an election.
We have it here with the Liberal party being supported by the Murdoch media.

Are Palestinians Terrporists?
Or freedom fighters?
I think that's just an extreme example of the issue we're talking about tho - who decides what is okay to say in public?
There was a case years ago where Clemantine Ford was having a twitter or facebook spat with someone. Some random guy jumped in and just called her a ****. She got him sacked.
On the face of it everyone thinks that is bad.

I didn't actually. Groups have been "cancelled" on the basis of "terrorism" for decades, and I mean denied a voice in our media not just killed. Its where the modern social media tactic came from and what it evolved out of. But I agree with you on that line being crossed.I was referring to terrorist groups that post videos of burning journalists alive, but I think you know that. Think that crosses the line.
LOL at my side of politics.
I don't have a side, I'm independent, I see through the left/right paradigm.
