I first heard that a few years ago re Roberts. Not a source on that fact checker dated before 2020.

Fact checkers have become a joke. Everything online is covered in multiple layers of disinfo and everything goes thru gate keepers. its so hard to find original sources any more.

I know of a site that has been archiving stories via c&p for 15 years and so many of them don't exist anywhere else any more. Not even on the wayback machine.

There might be something about specific prohibitions on particular info, like classified info, that adds another layer to Snowden's situation. The info in question in this situation with the cop, Van Buren, is basically random information. Its not specifically restricted for national security reasons. Instead its generally restricted for privacy reasons.

Another way of looking at it is that Van Buren is essentially a private person doing very similar to what Snowden objected to.
