The fact that people can freely publish an academic journal article calling an entire race parasitic and incurable isn’t exactly a great sign.

You are aware of basically the entire history of science right?

Cute, nice try, may I try.

You are aware of basically the entire history of racism, race essentialism and the use of highly similar dehumanising jargon by a number of racist regimes throughout history, including the extensive use of (inherent) vermin jargon attached to a single ethnic group to denote feelings of racial superiority/inferiority over another.

I'm done with this topic.

Phew, I thought he was talking about the bible!
Hilarious.

Best Cartographer Estimate. It was an inexact science.

Edit: In the interest of future discussion, I will take greater care when referring to the Cartographic field.

I was gonna comment about the poster with Jewish loss of lands, with a sign indicating which way the trains were .... evil in irony.

The graphic above reminds me of the one that my wife and her fellow countrymen are always banging on about (it's the result of the Treaty of Trianon in 1920):

Long live Austro-Hungary, probably one of the most bizarre political states/organisations since the Holy Roman Empire, which was not Holy, Roman or an Empire.

FDR: What’s the King’s name?
Aide: Hungary doesn’t have a King.
FDR: Then who runs the kingdom?
Aide: A Regent by the name of Admiral Miklós Horthy.
FDR: Admiral? Then Hungary must have a powerful navy.
Aide: Hungary has no navy; it doesn’t even have access to the sea.
FDR: Wars are often fought for religious reasons. What’s the main religion there?
Aide: Catholicism, Mr. President. But Admiral Horthy is Protestant.
FDR: Did this admiral declare war on us because of territorial claims then?
Aide: Hungary’s territorial claims are against Romania.
FDR: In that case, did Hungary declare war on Romania?
Aide: No, Hungary and Romania are allies.
FDR: Let me get this straight. Hungary is a kingdom run by a Regent who’s an admiral without a navy, and it is allied with Romania against which it has territorial claims but it has declared war on the U.S. against which it doesn’t.
Aide: That’s right, Mr. President.”

Sooooo, is it the estimation by the best cartographer, or the best estimation by any cartographer? Is there a cartographers guild? An annual award? Perhaps a 12 month stint in the chair of the best cartographer. 🙃 Sorry mate, just waiting for my best little mate to hop out of the shower :)

I reckon it's the place to be. Sounds like it cr@ps all over Syria, which has systematically destroyed any notion that Qld is a good place ..... where do we sign 🙃

I take it to be the accepted best estimation as established by an independent panel of experts in the field of historical cartography. As always, the panel reserves the right to amend the 'best' estimate when, and if, new cartographic evidence becomes available.

Edit: I have added a note regarding my omission of 'cartographic' in the earlier post, and hope that this in no way diminishes the important point I was attempting to make. Thank you for your understanding.

A lot of history and the Magyars have a very rich culture. Budapest is very pretty too, apparently.

I’ve been doing a bit of a deep dive into the the red army/iron curtain of communism. Truely horrific stuff.

Look, I don't want to get too far into this but there is another side to the 'it was all horror' narrative. Most non-emigrants I speak to who lived it didn't think it was so bad, but of course that's all anecdotal, and limited to one country. Lots of people lived just really normal lives.

Anyway, for a light hearted take on how either side pitches its narratives about the other, I suggest you watch Comrade Detective. It's dubbed over by Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon Levitt and is an absolute pisser.
