Russia isn't Communist any more. Its closer to a corporate state than anything else, its like the cross between a nation and a humungous international energy company. Also, Putin is possibly one of the richest men on earth. He's no communist.

He is also heavily influenced by a guy called Alexander Dugin, who has connection to far right groups throughout the world. Dugin is a Rasputin like character.

It wouldn’t really bother me but people believe what they see on the news, or read in the paper. Most people will stick to the same news that supports, or confirms their own biases without even realising they’re doing it.

Serious question, if you don’t like Greenwald then I’m assuming you don’t like similar journalists like Taibbi for example, who do you pay attention to because you obviously follow American news because of your strong views on Tucker and Glen. Who do you trust for news, even if reporting it goes against their “team”?

Stalin wasn't rich as such, he just had control of alot of resources. I know its basically the same thing but there is a difference. Communism is when the money/resources made in a state is held by the state and distributed according to particular rules. Its very different to capitalism on that front but ultimately its still a system where power is concentrated and abused.

The only thing you can say for democracy is that its an active attempt to distribute power and make it hard for tyrants to gain control of everything. Its the only real method we have for that right now and its not perfect but it is alot better than anything else. This is why we need to tax billionaires, and seize their wealth. Cos money is one thing that can subvert democratic processes. Thru control of electoral processes via donations and lobbying and thru straight up corruption.

Greenwald is now a flag. He's got his devotees who will defend him regardless of what he does.

There's lots of investigative reporting out of the US I read that is quality. Some from the mainstream papers like NY Times, a lot from PBS, politico. I try to avoid commentaries that put spin on things. If it gets to a stage where I 'follow' a journo, it's probably gone too far.
