I know, it’s the bystander effect.

Yeah I know. As creepy as it was it doesn’t sound like there was a lot of confrontation for people to react to..unless you yelled at him or something people aren’t going to step up, even then it’s 50/50 depending on who’s around.

Still think you should tell the cops. Not 000. But the local cops. He could just be some bloke with dementia or he could be a real problem for another young girl. Guarantee you that he’s known to the local police, either way you’re either helping him or another lady down the track.

That's a good idea, letting the local cops know. Short and sweet, just a heads up so they can keep an eye out so there is a pattern of complaints.

We just passed our own voter suppression laws under the guise of 'Voter ID'.

A solution to a literal non-existent problem that will affect those least able to complain, the homeless, the indigenous and the marginalised.

Disgraceful legislation.
That hasn't passed yet tho has it?

Wasn't it jut floated by the Morrison government?

Six months out from an election? After they've ****ed up everything they had to deal with in the last 3 years?

i doubt it'll happen.

Juror got dismissed from Rittenhouse case for telling a policeman a disgraceful joke about Jacob blake whose death by a policeman led to the kenosha protests
Maybe they just wanted to get out of jury duty.

Yeah, I saw your other post and was going to say this. I know it's of little comfort to you given you experienced something awful, but yeah, it's a real psychological phenomenon. I've even read about it affecting people in like truly horrific mass violence situations. It's quite bizarre.

As others have said though, if you're up to it, it might not be a bad idea to just give the local police a call and let them know. It might be one of those things where they take a statement from you, keep an eye out, and who know, your contribution may even stop an escalation of harassment from this person. But obviously you shouldn't feel obliged to do so if you're not comfortable with it.

It’s a slip but without China taking part of its pretty worthless. China will cook the planet on their own at this rate

I personally think China are making huge strides in this sector well beyond their current state of economic development. Massive renewable producer and huge domestic and global investment being poured in by them.

Of course it's in their interests, too, as it reduces their reliance on coal exporting countries. As it is for every country.

It is indeed SB. Got an offer above the predicted range. Contracts signed this arvo.all within a week. Set a record for our street apparently beating previous high 2 months ago.

My mate is a real estate agent and he's basically selling them in less than a few days after listing them.

It's ridiculous.

Yep, I just hope that some people would step in you know
Do you actually expect somebody to step into something that may or may not be happening in the middle of the day?

I don't mean to be rude, but you have to call for help, or sort it out yourself. Weird sh!t happens all the time.

Mate there were literally people laughing at me, PEOPLE WERE LOOKING.

How many times did I have to say “NO I DONT WANT THE MONEY” and backing away to get my point across. People should be able to ****ing take no as an answer. A WOMAN WAS STARING AT ME SHE WALKED PAST TWICE.

OK, sorry about that. I didn't get the context.

Speaking of real estate, with the new job I mentioned in the COVID thread, I'm hoping to move into the inner city by the end of the year at the latest (a statement which probably shows my naivety). Anyone know how difficult and competitive is it to get a rental in, say, South Melbourne?

Turn it up. They’re the biggest concern regarding climate change by a mile, closely followed by India. And it’s not just because they have a massive population it’s because they literally don’t care.

I’ll give you a small sample size of how I have seen it first hand. We sell copper & ally to the scrappers. We always got more for it if it was stripped because otherwise the scrappers would have to strip it themselves.

Now it’s the same price weather it’s stripped of the insulation or not. They worked out how much copper is in electrical cables, gas lines etc and just sell it straight to China or India without stripping it.
“They just put it in the fire and burn off the rubber and plastic anyway”.

Now I get that’s on a micro scale but I does give an insight into the type of recycling that’s going on.

China openly admits it wants to be the big swinging dick of the world, fo you honestly think they’ll let climate change get in the way of that?

Xi would rather own a worthless barren world of slaves then bow down to western influence.
