Hey Val.

Remember what you said about never having the time to watch every video I post. Well this one's an hour and a half long.

I don't normally have the attention span for this sort of thing but it was pretty good. Its a long now foundation seminar where a Eric Cline, a Late Bronze Age historian and archaeologist talks about the simulataneous collapse of the Bronze Age civilisations. Then does a q&a. Its meant to consider that "globalised" society which was made up of about 5 or 6 major trading partners all with sophisticated economies built on international trade networks and how quickly it collapsed, probably in comparison to ours. Its put on by the Long Now foundation which is an organisation that promotes long term thinking about human society and problem solving etc etc. Its pretty dry but interesting. Kangaroos4eva might enjoy it too being a history buff from a different part of history.

Cool. I’ll check it out later on. I’m listening to a book at the moment about the Middle Ages called Powers and Thrones by historian Dan Jones. I’m about 1/3 of the way through. Moves really quickly so I have to pay attention. Very different then listening to podcasts but I’ve sort of run out of history podcasts.

You can listen to most of that video without needing to see it too. He has some charts that map movement of peoples etc but they aren't really that important.

My wife left a quarter of a watermelon's skin in the bin.

I open the foot pedestal, throw an empty bottle in said bin. Bottle bounces off the skin, out of the bin and straight into my crotch.

i tried not to laugh. Honest.

Why are you throwing bottles out in the garbage? No recycling bins in your street?
