Attempting to book accommodation for Nth V Tigers game. As the draw is only out for rounds 1-9, I’ve worked out it’s R18 15/16 July22. Can anyone confirm this is correct so I don’t f&ck up my weekend booking. Cheers all.

Wowsers. A Muslim gws player won’t play for gws in a pride gurnsey on religious grounds.

Would have thought that’s a sackable position right there.

It’s funny because she’s a muslim so some people who identify as hardcore leftists are confused as to what to do. Apparently it’s different to Falou lol.

Yep. It’s exactly the same. I wonder if she’ll be treated like Falou and kicked out of the game.

Has to be

Not only does it show what type of person she is, she’s celebrating it.

How would her gay team mates feel that rather than say nothing and wear a jumper, she’s making a big deal about how worthless they are.

Gws can’t possibly keep her on the playing list.

I wish I could place bets on which way this thread goes before seeing it, would make a mint.

Apparently, she participated in the photo shoot and everything for the jumper, but got a lot of backlash from family and community, which is interesting.

Well not surprising given Muslim electorates were some of the lowest to support same sex marriage.

But you would have hoped a younger person that is team mates with gay people would be able to shut out that crap and be more enlightened.

Anyway, it’s her right to not wear it.

And now it’s GWS’s right and responsibility to sack her.

Yeah, agreed. I just think it would be a little difficult if she's under sustained pressure from her family, but I know what you mean.

Same for everyone from a religious community I spose.

I have a devoutly Christian friend that was recently playing in the AFLW, although not at the moment. She was friends with and supported them in whatever life choices they made. Every person's life choices are their own to make, and as friends and teammates it is not your place to tell them not to make them, even if you disagree with their life choices. The reality is that a huge percentage of the players in the AFLW are gay, if you don't like that then you shouldn't join the league, it's not like it's a surprise that you had no way of knowing.

Agree. It’s the hypocrisy I can’t stand.

What a preposterous thing to say.

There are vast differences between Israel Folau and Haneen Zreika.

For a start, Folau was openly hostile, and despite being given multiple warnings, he continued being hostile. He was basically taunting Rugby Australia, daring them to sack him.

Zreika, on the other hand, has simply withdrawn from a match, and said nothing publicly.

If you think that's deserving of a sacking, then God/Allah/Buddha/Keith Richards help us all....

Is it, though? If she comes out and declares that different groups of people will burn in hell, I’d fully expect her to be in serious strife.

Disagree.

She’s gone out of her way to promote this decision. She could have said nothing and just not played due to soreness.

Instead she stood up (bravely) infront of her gay teammates and said my personal view is that you are not worthy of support.

I’ll help you. Pretend she’s Gary Ablett jnr and you’ll see.
