I have a devoutly Christian friend that was recently playing in the AFLW, although not at the moment. She was friends with and supported them in whatever life choices they made. Every person's life choices are their own to make, and as friends and teammates it is not your place to tell them not to make them, even if you disagree with their life choices. The reality is that a huge percentage of the players in the AFLW are gay, if you don't like that then you shouldn't join the league, it's not like it's a surprise that you had no way of knowing.
If you're a young sheltered Muslim girl you might not know.

I knew it’d be something like that. Poor old fella just trying to stay relevant.

farmaid. started in 1985 by Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young. Still going.

Bridge School Benefit started by Pegi and Neil Young

Unlike Falou who probably wouldn't have been sacked if his employer's sponsor didn't crack the shits. Partly cos the guy that runs the sponsor is gay.

Falou had a shitload of support in grass roots Union circles, which are usually pretty conservative and often religious as well.

Yes bring back the custodians of truth like Jerry Springer, Oprah, Ellen and those hags on the view.
Or CNN and the NYT with the bullshit they spew about Assange and all the dead interpreters in Afghanistan.

Probably should’ve put Dr Phil in there too.

I’m genuinely intrigued as to who will take his spot. He’s mid 50’s so it’s going to happen but I don’t see anyone with the range he has. He’s a world class comedian, he’s an expert in martial arts, he’s also a hunter, also despite what people say about him he’s pretty intelligent with a good memory so he’s able to hold conversations with intelligent people.

He puts out about 12-16 hours of content a week, and because of those above credentials he can go from having a hang with a comedian where they just get high and joke around, to having interesting conversations with world class fighters (my favourite episode recently was with Chitto Vera), hunters, and then chuck in the doctors, scientists, musicians, politicians etc. and it becomes obvious why it’s so popular.

If people are offended by Rogan, they should check out Tim Dillons podcast lol.
And he'd be just another forgotten nobody without DMT.

I'm amazed at the lack of self-awareness from Joe Rogan fans insulting Neil Young. Young is one of the greatest musicians alive. Rogan is a washed up comedian who only has a career by appealing to other biased, delusional right-wingers desperate to believe they're freethinkers.
Young has been an irrelevent has been at least since he released that song about killing brown people that I linked to just upthread.

Keep on rocking in the free world hey.

If by “irrelevant” you mean more successful and critically acclaimed than any musician Australia has ever produced from a career that spans multiple genres and decades, then sure, he’s irrelevant.
He's no JG Thirlwell tho is he.

🤣At first, I thought you were talking about Dr Phil there, Val.

The tragedy for us Boomers is the realisation that we’ve become our parents…

There’s worse things on Spotify to get upset about then JRE. They probably have Cannibal Corpse on there, where they have songs about raping someone with a knife on their dick and then the person dies as they finish, or the millions of gangster rappers who brag about murdering people.

Just an odd hill to die on.
Funnily enough when people tried to wipe out 2 Live Crew, Cannibal Corpse was one of the other bands they went after. They were also banned in Australia. For at least a decade.

I honestly wonder how many people critical of the show actually listen to it? I see lots of little 2 minute clips taken from a 3 hour show on social media and it’s usually misrepresented in some way.

He’s definitely got a target on his back. Be interesting to see how this plays out. Rogan might not even acknowledge it. Ironically he’s probably a fan of Neil Young lol. He’d probably have him on the show.
It really serves him right for trying to be Terrence or Dennis Mckenna but just not having the intellect for it.

Altho to his credit that's probably why he started the podcast. To learn about stuff people like the McKenna brothers had picked up before they started talking.

How did you come to that conclusion? That is bizarre.
A kinder, gentler, machine gun hand:

I know I said I love you
I know you know it's true
I've got to put the phone down
And do what we got to do
One's standing in the aisleway
Two more at the door
We've got to get inside there
Before they kill
Time is running out, let's roll

No time for indecision
We've got to make a move
I hope that we're forgiven
For what we got to
How this all got started
I'll never understand
I hope someone can fly this thing
And get us back to land
Time is running out, let's roll

No one has the answer
But one thing is true
You've got to turn on evil
When it's coming after you
You've got to face it down
And when it tries to hide
You've got to go in after it
And never be denied
Time is running out, let's roll
Let's roll for freedom
Let's roll for love
We're going after Satan
On the wings of a dove
Let's roll for justice
Let's roll for truth
Let's not let our children
Grow up fearful in their youth
Time is running out, let's roll

Very strong candidate for worlds best parliamentary and election systems ✅

Don't have a major party capable of standing up to mining/fossil fuel interests in the era of dangerous climate change. Said parliament has laws on books that make us a police state.
You can't blame the westminster system or preferential voting for that. I'd argue they've made our politics less polarised and more pragmatic than they otherwise would have been, given the alternatives.

Having said all that, yes of course our national approach to climate change has been appalling.
A pluralistic and secular society ✅

Religious intolerence is rife. Our religion is neo liberal economics and we worship mammon.
There's definitely a redneck culture legitimized by vocal segments of the government and major media organisations.

While its a lower bar than we'd like, people aren't persecuted on the basis of their religion here.

Over a long arc, national institutions like sports organisations and government agencies have continually gotten better at being inclusive and this should be celebrated.

An outstanding (if imperfect) balance between relatively high minimum wages vs economic freedom and strong entrepreneurial culture ✅

No real wages growth since Hawke's wages accord. Generations now unable to access the housing market. Real value of wages has fallen significantly since the 80s. There is more cheap distracting crap to buy (for now,) that's all. Forty years of assaults on workers rights, conditions and on freedom of association (cos unions, bikies or other forms of non regulated working class association are bad and business is perfect).
Hence "imperfect."

The way you're describing our recent history, its like we didn't throw out a Government because of Workchoices. Or hold a public royal commission that revealed widespread banking misbehavior and then punish them accordingly.

You don't have to be blind to the serious problems facing our country in order to be accept there's a lot to be grateful for as an Australian citizen.

So, If someone hijacks your plane you aren't going to do anything unless they have white skin.

Its a piece of garbage and I haven't had the time of day for him since (but I still listen to his older music every now and then cos its good.)

He wrote a song that got a whole shitload of people onboard what turned out to be the worst possible response to 9/11. he's as responsible for ISIS as Dubya and Rumsfeld.

Neil Young's opinion on anything this century isn't worth wiping your arse with imo.
