Now that is a threat that may get a response.
Perhaps the same threat could be used to diffuse the Ukrainian border situation.

He doesn't actually own it. A company called Blackstone does. Via Hipgnosis. Well they own half or something.I really don't think Neil expected Spotify to pull Rogan but he wanted to make a point and be heard.
He's also pulled his work from Spotify before so I really don't think he gives a sh*t about losing a mill or two by pulling his work again.
He definitely marches to the beat of his own drum.Neil Young reminds me of Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino. You admire where he’s coming from but you wouldn’t want to be hanging onto every thought bubble that emanates from his mouth/brain.

He should invite him on his show. One of the best parts of this is that Joe Rogan is the only person who hasn’t weighed in with an opinion.
Would be a cheap PR stunt from Rogan. He should invite him on his show.
Yeah but he's a comedian. He should do it as a dumb joke.Would be a cheap PR stunt from Rogan.
Young wouldn't agree to further propogate Rogan's influence.
Hipgnosis actually don't have much to do with this, Ferbs. He doesn't actually own it. A company called Blackstone does. Via Hipgnosis. Well they own half or something.
They paid $150 Million for it a few years ago. I assume he took that money and now his decision will cost those investors money, not just Young. Not that I really care about those investors.
fu** them.
Most of Blackstone is owned by Vanguard and Black Rock, who own pretty much fu**en everything there is to own via arcane networks of share ownership.
So that could help win me back actually.
I dunno if you noticed or not (probably not) but I was pretty bitter about Niel Young selling out his principles after 9/11. Bitterly disappointed might be a fair description. So if he's costing a bunch of caspitalist scum fu**s tens of millions of dollars to support vaccination as a general principle that's pretty cool on his part. Credit where its due.
Oh well. I was looking for something positive. He did say it would cost him tens of millions of dollars tho and they own half the publishing rights so that would have been significant wouln't it, its half the money from the song every time its played yeah? But of course they'll live.Hipgnosis actually don't have much to do with this, Ferbs.
Neil Young's recordings are ultimately owned by Warner Brothers. So it's Warner that ultimately had the power to pull the music down, after he requested it.
Hipgnosis own half of the publishing rights, which is the copyright over the song - the words and music - but the actual recordings of those songs are owned under a separate contract.
There are literally two pools of money that get distributed, and it can get quite complicated. I heard a story recently where it took eight months to get clearance for the use of Paul Simon's songs in the audiobook of his own memoirs.
So based on Neil Young's streaming numbers, Hipgnosis might be missing out on a few thousand dollars a month from Spotify. The renewed interest in Neil Young because of this story could mean it's actually profitable for them. More radio airplay, and a shift of his listeners to platforms that pay more than the ******* scraps that Spotify pay out.
But even if it doesn't, his work is a pretty small part of the Hipgnosis catalogue. They'll live.

Did you listen to Alan Jones? The funny thing is I don’t think these people actually listen to the show.
Did you listen to Alan Jones?
Presuming the answer is no, does that render every opinion you have about him completely invalid?
Wow.Nah I’ve never listened to him and I don’t have an opinion of him.

If we keep drawing this bow out, we all know where we’re going to end up. Who was that Chaplin lookalike before we were all born…?Says a lot for Rogan and his demographic if they don't rate one of the greatest musicians of the last 50 years.NY wouldn’t even make the top 50 of Rogan’s guests.

Do you mean like a seven day average case number of covid hospitalisations, not stays of more than 7 days from covid that imply a severe infection?
That means there is no way the unvaxxed hospital rate could be 12 times higher and its only severe cases that are five times higher and it was poorly written. Which was their only out, or the only way the signatories had to claim they weren't actually misinforming people themselves. Its definitely only five times higher.
The letter is still doing exactly what the people who signed it want Rogan moderated for.
They're no different to Rogan and Malone, altho Rogan at least has the excuse that he is just a comedian who can fight a bit not an expert by a long margin.
Its an obvious gag tho.He has doctors and scientists on to talk about that stuff, not old folk musicians. It’d be like having a scientist on to talk about music.
The funny thing is I don’t think these people actually listen to the show. For example, he just had Julianna Peña (the chick who just beat Amanda Nunes to become the champ) and she said she’s really into conspiracies and thinks it’s all a money making scheme, he stopped her and said he doesn’t think it’s that at all…..then she said you just had dr McClough on and he was talking about them burning down the forest in Brazil where they get ivermectin (iirc I’m just going from memory) from, then Joe says what I don’t think the doctor realised was that Brazilians have been burning the Amazon for agriculture for years and it’s more likely to be from that.
My point is he shut it down straight away because he was talking to a fighter talking out of their ass and not a world renowned doctor.
It’ll be interesting to see if Rogan even acknowledges Young. I’m guessing it’ll be on an episode with a friend where they’re just getting high and sh*t talking.
You should be flattered that someone would spend the equivalent of a Marvel Stadium cold pie and lukewarm mid strength to send you to the sin bin for a day.I had the unfortunate experience of being victim to bigfooty's new purchase a gift function.
