I'm all for people having religious beliefs, but like most Australians I'd prefer it if you kept them to yourself unless asked. This is how men in power (a generalisation I know) behave.

Stolen generation; move on it was decades ago.

Rape victim; smile for the camera and shut up.

Uncomfortable questions; get the wife out in front as a shield.

To show compassion (real, not the faux we see), or understanding or empathy is to show weakness before the faithful, and that is never done.

They don't. They earn it through penance and atonement (deeds), and even then only the victim can grant it.

I'm huge on forgiveness. It changed my life and I understand what people mean when they place an emphasis on it.

But this was just simply inappropriate and rang more along the lines of "shut up and forgive already". Which is ****ing gross.
