If you dont mind getting your hands dirty a trade is a great path to take, construction is sort of a bit different, you get all your rigging , lifting tickets then play the construction industry merry-go round-game, and it is a game, seldom do the best get the jobs, its the players that know how to play the game that thrive in the construction industry, having said that iam not saying everyone in construction dont know their jobs, just that the politics plays a BIG part.

Started hating construction for exactly those reasons. It’s even worse now with the CFMEU having no teeth, not many are getting EBA rates any more

That’s what my wife does. She’s a senior project manager and often does 16 hour days. Comes home about 5 has dinner and is working from home till 10/10:30pm. She’s a workaholic though.

You don’t have to be. Maths plays a part in all trades but its pretty basic.

all comes down to your preferences, not my cup of tea but know lots of people in planning and management roles. the planning side is all about resource allocation, critical path anaylisis,etc. the management side deals more of the contractural level side of things, all mostly office based stuff rather than hands on roles.
