My brother is the same. Just does compound movements with his shoulders to compensate. I don’t seem to have issues with isolation work for my shoulders. I do lateral raises with the pouring motion and it seems to work without issue.Glenohumeral joint is likely being squeezed too tight, probably heavily rolled forward shoulders. Try leaning forward and to the ground with your torso slightly, and internally rotating your wrists slightly, like you're pouring a kettle of water in each hand. This should engage the rear delts a little more and remove the pinch in the GH joint.
I just don't do lateral raises anymore.
I have bigger problems with getting depth with my squats due to knee problems. Which is weird because I am good at calf exercises for my weight.
