That is an awfully long bow to blame a rule that was enacted over a decade ago.

The fact remains that it is the decision of a minister, it is not a legislated outcome. The 'rule' is being enforced by this government, not the person who first enacted it.

This 'Rudd did it first' simply doesn't wash after over ten years and multiple governments.

The father Nades arrived by boat under the Gillard government in 2012. And Priya a year later.

Let's be very clear. His claimed to being forced into the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam is entirely plausible. He and his family are at huge risk of persecution.

They should be allowed to stay. They are victims of political posturing as you say. Dutton chose them as the sacrificial victims to make sure the world understands we mean what we say. The cruelty inflicted on those children is the point in of itself. It is truly disgusting, a crime against humantity.

It was an awful, cynical and unforgiveable act then. Yes the current family are photogenic and every gets the feelz for a little girl in distress - see Bana Alabed of Aleppo fame - but what about the thousands of people you never saw who had their lives ruined by Rudd's poisonous electioneering?

Nah, Rudd doesn't get to slink away for a second. He's every bit as responsible for what is happening to that little girl as Morrison, Dutton and now shamefully Karen Andrews.
