Broome Rodeo’s pick-up riders had their work cut out trying to wrangle a streaker who made his way into the ring to raucous cheers from the crowd.
The man ran onto the field from the bar end between events and found his way across the ring with ease.

was then that the pick-up riders — on the field to collect bucking horses after they had disposed of their riders — were spurred into action to clean up the rogue gentleman.

It was a moment that had the crowd in feverish applause, though the rodeo announcer made it clear over the PA system that “we don’t condone this”.

One nearby spectator remarked: “This is the best event of the night.”

On social media, people congratulated the ballsy effort.

“Every rodeo needs a clown,” Dave Monk posted to the Broome Advertiser Facebook page.

Johnny Rocka said: “Good on him I say, it’s all about having fun.


Diane Bird added: “Gotta have them ... it’s a rodeo.”

The man eventually clambered out of the ring and into the heaving crowd.

Back on the official program, Halls Creek’s Lance Bedford Jr won the open bull ride as the only competitor to hit the eight-second mark in the final.

Ross Job won the saddlebronc on notrious bucker Split Ear with a score of 141 across two rides.
