The covid stuff has become tiresome. There’s no other podcast out there like it though. History pods are my favourite but in terms of interesting conversations nothing comes close. I like Tim Dillon, Flagrant 2 and Your moms house for a laugh. Sam Harris and Eric Weinstein have good conversations but they can be boring.

Any recommendations? I like the randomness of JRE.
Love Sam and Eric. Lex Fridman is like these two guest wise though not quite as good at leading and engaging in conversation.

History of Rome is a great podcast and Fall of Civilisations is also really interesting. Real Dictators is cool and as always Dan Carlin is awesome. I tend to go for more serious topics with my podcasts so quite boring for many.

I’ve listened to the whole History of Rome podcast. It’s amazing. If you like that, check out Emperors of Rome, it’s brilliant. Don’t mind Lex but he lacks charisma.

I literally just finished listening to Carlin’s latest ‘common sense’ episode, he didn’t really say much that isn’t obvious tbh. If you like hardcore history please try The Martyrmade podcast, it’s amazing.

Behind the bastards is ok as well but the host let’s his politics into his show, it’s also a bit of a ripoff of the dollop (which I stopped listening to for the same reason) too much ‘white people are the worst’.

Started a history one yesterday that is ok, it’s called ‘Short history of’. Looking through the topics and it doesn’t just focus on one area of history.

I love history, but I also just like a laugh or a stimulating conversation, even something that challenges my beliefs.

Joe Rogan finally got covid, took ivermectin, got over it in 4 days and people are angry at him lol.

I’m pretty sure being unbelievably fit at 54 had more to do with him not getting really sick then ivermectin. Still hilarious that people are angry at him. It’s like they wanted him to get sick or something. lol

I don't get the fascination with Rogan.

Texas just passed a new law that bans abortions after about six weeks of pregnancy which is the strictest ban in the country.

Six weeks is even before someone knows they are preggo. And they make no exceptions for r@pe and incest.

so if they are gonna ban abortions are they gonna help fund the foster care system or do they just to control women?

What about?

I'm not a fan of his twitter work. Seems a bit of a bully to me.

His constant bitching about the handling of covid by the government and the lockdowns etc. It wasn’t too bad but when I wrote that Victoria wouldn’t be where we are if NSW locked down earlier. Then he deleted all his tweets.

It’s not really a fascination with him, more his guests. He doesn’t give a **** what people think of him and it’s refreshing. He can have conversations with people he disagrees with without getting emotional and will discuss in good faith. There’s also the broad spectrum of guests, he can go from Bernie Sanders to Joey Diaz to GSP and even Alex Jones. He’s not P.C but pretty liberal.

I saw that new bill, tbh I don’t know what to think about it
Among other things it means the feds can access and change data on the computer of a lawyer or journalist assisting a whistleblower.

i dont have a problem with it, if people are sharing data over a public facility such as the internet they would be foolish to assume it couldnt be accessed. no one owns the dark web so in effect its a public domain.
I have a massive problem with police and spooks being able to change data on a person's devices while those police and spooks are gathering evidence for potential criminal trials etc. Cops are no strangers to things like parallel construction of investigations. Environmentalists and activists can be targeted by this bill, but if you use a service that is shared by those people you could as well.

Especially when warrants are approved by members of the AAT. They are not part of the judiciary, they are part of the executive, but are empowered to approve warrants in this case. This bill undermines the separation of powers imo.

And who’s to say they aren’t going to abuse their powers? I’m a bit ignorant on it so I’m not sure
