Okay okay I kinda jumped the gun and the job guy emailed me back and scheduled an interview for next week. And then like 10 mins ago I got a call and it was an out of the blue interview for a shop on chapel street lol

Not totally unexpected, but this is only going worsen our dependency on the USA. We have no nuclear industry to support it all and it is off-the-shelf, so the yanks will have all the source codes for all the important tech/systems.

I think the USA has realised we are a backwater banana republic (in anything other than medicine) and while that was fine to carry us like dead weight in the past against distant foreign targets with outdated weaponry, that isn't going to work if China comes at us.

I think someone in the Pentagon drew a very basic picture that even someone in Canberra could figure out that we are the weak link in the chain and that if China invades us then it would take too long for the US to try and counter and they aren't starting a global thermonuclear war to save our arses. So we are basically ****ed and France's noisy diesel submersible coffins isn't going to change the landscape.

Our only real form of defense would be to keep any significant number of troops from landing on our shore, for that we need to be able to repel a significant invasion force by land and sea. It doesn't matter if China has 1000:1 troops, they can only move so many at a time and if you can cripple the ability to move them then they are dead in the water. It would also buy time to get support from our allies and by allies I am not talking about NZ who take every opportunity to piss on our backs.

I think it highlights that the Five Eyes is for the better part, three eyes and two voyeurs. ANZAC is dead, unless NZ gets invaded and they need us to bail them out, they have for the most part disbanded their military, they have an active personnel of 9,723 in the army. Their air force of 52 P-3 Orions and C-130s has less firepower than a kid with a firecracker. Their navy which consists of 2 anzac retrofit MEKO-200 frigates are support vessels for larger ships they don't have. If we get involved in a conflict down south, we are going in solo.

NZ, as expected, said they would ban our subs from NZ waters. Ironic the greenie is against a zero emission sub in favour of a diseasel powered vessels.

I think we have to modernise, our ships do not have enough armaments for any engagement, let alone a protracted one. We have inadequate long-range capabilities. We are incapable of repelling an invasion force. We should update with modern technologies. We should be capable of defending ourselves when there is a country that claims it wants to be the global world power. They aren't going to achieve that by handing out cookies.

Not to mention contractual disputes and issues related to a system review study. So the French can gagf. People have been pushing for an off-the-shelf submarine since the Oberons were being replaced in the 1980s.

The whole "build it here" was more about a vote buying exercise, I think "how useful" something was always took a back seat to how many backs can be scratched.

Down the line, it would be better for us to get familiar with the operation of a modern subs and modern technology and do what China does, reverse engineer everything and learn to build them ourselves.

To sum it up, her and her fiancé were travelling the way through the US and got pulled over on a highway in a middle of a fight and she was pouring tears and the police like asked them questions and because he had multiple scratches she would have been guilty of DV (she did it in self defence) as she told the police that he’d hit her. After that they let them leave TOGETHER and she has not been seen since. There has been activity on her Instagram account which is believed not to be her due to the way that the posts were written. The last photo ‘she’ posted was on august 25th with a one sentenced captain where she’d would detail her travel day and go more in-depth. Her partner has been declared a person of interest but it’s a really interesting story.

I hope she is found safe but my mind is telling me different. It’s also giving me big Chris watts vibes

The one that gives me chills because of recency is Israel Keyes. He seemed like just a normal guy but killed people all over the US just for kicks
