Since Gladys got the sack, all over my Twitter feed is #Dannext? It’s really weird. One would think the conversation would be about the allegations of corruption against Gladys but it’s somehow been turned around onto Andrews. Anyone else seeing that? Is Dan being investigated by ICAC for something?
Apparently corruption is the same as 'incompetence' 🤷‍♂️

People will latch onto anything if it suits their POV, nothing more than that.

The thing is, say they get their wish and Andrews stepped down, who replaces him? If they’re angry at him about the lockdown (which tbh is understandable because of some the ridiculous rules like the curfew) wouldn’t the lockdown rules be a party decision and whoever replaces him will just continue with the status quo?

That’s why I asked if he’s under investigation for corruption like Gladys. Otherwise it doesn’t make sense.

I wouldn't invest much time into twitter hashtags mate.

Don't know anything about that, but there is IBAC (The Vic version of ICAC). They are happy to get politicians on minor bureaucratic technicalities as well as major breaches and land development-style deals.

I’m not but a few of the North people that I follow are banging on about it.

Is Andrews under investigation by them?

So that’s what it is then? They’re just angry about the lockdown?
Dunno, can't speak for others.. but from reading stuff on here and elsewhere though, the hotel stuff last year and other things people dislike him for are seen in the same light as some see Gladys' conduct.
It's all just partisan crapola in my eyes. I don't think he is being investigated for anything though

Any leader (or party IMO) isn't going to be in a rush to replace Andrews because they're on a hiding to nothing while we ride out the pandemic.

Being Victorian premier is like taking on the Carlton job.

But yeah, it's just people with (at times understandable frustration) latching onto something that's going to allow them to vent some anger.

I'm all for hearing views that challenge my POV (why I come to BF as there's a few people who I really respect that views differ from mine) but Twitter ain't the place to read too much into it (like K4E said)

Everyone has different views on different politicians, it simply is that. Twitter is hyper-partisan, attracts the more extreme of voices and is, generally, not representative of the wider community.

Publicly, no, privately, I wouldn't know.

Yeah it would be a terrible time to take over. I wouldn’t be surprised if Andrews stepped down before the next election because the bloke must be knackerd. The smart thing to do from a party POV would be to wait till we come out of lockdown next month then the new leader can ride the positivity of that and all the infrastructure improvements like level crossings and the new railway tunnel into the next election. Unless the Libs come up with someone better then Matthew Guy they don’t stand a chance with or without Andrews running Labour.

ICAC is a NSW thing. Its just propaganda.

And on cue, we've got the usual suspects complaining about ICAC, not that the Premier has stood down because of alleged corruption.

It's almost like there's a federal election coming up and a federal ICAC will be a policy battleground...

I hope so.
