At no point have I seen David McBride express regret over leaking the documents, he still does semi-regular panels with the journalist who broke the story, and unless you're suggesting that it would have been better that we never knew that our army perpetrated war crimes, I'm not sure what your point is.The Afghan war crimes story has resulted in a whistleblower being charged, facing death threats, ongoing harassment of his family and himself and the prospect of spending the rest of his life in prison while the military look to avoid charging the people involved in the actual killings.
This is something that got absolutely no traction in the media (well maybe it did, I ignore most mass media these days.) On one hand Gucci stores are essential, on the other people in SW Sydney gave everyone else covid.
You guys have no idea what you are talking about. Google is your friend.Do you honestly think any of the upper middle class white kids who dominate the SMH or ABC have ever even been west of Parramatta?

My point is that rather than breaking the story we should be hearing about his situation every day, and how it just is not good enough that he is in that position. At no point have I seen David McBride express regret over leaking the documents, he still does semi-regular panels with the journalist who broke the story, and unless you're suggesting that it would have been better that we never knew that our army perpetrated war crimes, I'm not sure what your point is.
Of course there was coverage. You guys have no idea what you are talking about. Google is your friend.

Bloody good journos from migrant backgrounds from Western Sydney.
Stop with the whitewashing before I need to get Aunty to put me on their PR payroll.
except nicole chevastec does my head in at times.First up - abc country radio is good. But it rarely breaks big stories or has any other influence on the country. Its local radio.
So doing a Malcolm Fraser then?Left pants on the floor.

I wasn’t born in 1936Just dropping this here. From mid-2000, the first 40 seconds is enough to demonstrate why some of us have no time for Rogan.

Context on the bolded, for those interested. If the vaccine rollout hadn't had so many questions around it and the "official stance" about it wasn't so toxic then things could have been different.
People are giving other people sh*t because they don't want an mRNA vaccine and would prefer a traditional one. That's unacceptable really.
Rogan isn't responding to Australia either, he's responding to the US where rumours of the poor trial testing and excess side effects have been around for nearly a year.
People can bang on about anti vaxxers all they like but the reality is people claimed these vaccines were "perfectly safe" and they weren't. Serious questions arose over the trial process that still haven't gone away. The most obvious case is the is the Ventavia fu** up but it isn't the only one. If someone was trying to sell me something over the counter and had the sort of marketing that we have seen since the vaccine rollout started I wouldn't be giving them my money. Even if their product wasn't shonky they haven't engendered trust.
As soon as you mandate a medical procedure instead of relying on people to choose to do it you create the potential for these issues. Especially when so many of the justifications for the mandate turn out to be wrong.
People use the term "pandemic of the unvaccinated" when the numbers clearly show less vaccinated people in hospital. They may be in there at a higher rate but when the raw number is less than 100 people and the numbers of vaccinated are much higher and other issues are cropping up it just looks bad and people who are looking for a reason double down. Viral loads were high enough in vaccinated people (pre Omicron) that the argument they prevented transmission is shot down in seconds. They may be higher in the unvaccinated but so what. The vaccinated people still spread the virus.
All of this stuff happened between when Rogan made that show and when he got covid.
If you want to pull off the response people were calling for you have to bring people along with you and you have to make an effort to bring "hesitant' people along. That didn't happen. The response was authoritarian and patronising and driven as much by anti Trump politics and cancel culture as anything else. When anti Trump politics should have had nothing to do with it.
I've had conversations with anti vaxxers (not yelling matches) where they bring up the trial of mRNA vaccines as potentially sus. I agree to a point but this is an emergency situation, and we respond differently in emergencies to everyday life. being patient and considered about discussing that actually can work on bringing them around. None of what we did as a society was patient and considered.
Paul Offit, who did the debunking of Rogan's Malone interview with that medical youtuber ZDogg, the one that was posted a few pages back ... he advised his twenty something son not to get a mRNA booster shot.
Did you know that?
You can't call him anti vax. He's so pro vaccination he's invented one. An anti rotovirus vaccine that has probably saved millions of lives already.
I get your criticism of Rogan, especially based on that, fair enough, but none of this happened in a vacuum. It happened in a situation of extreme polarisation where people became very authoritarian about the response to the pandemic. In response to that other people will default to the things that really matter to them and if they are anti authoritarian they will pull that way.
I can only wonder what would have happened if things had been different.
It is.Context on the bolded, for those interested.
It's a very good read

Sydney media had long ago decided COVID was a Victorian thing they didn't get coz Gold Standard Gladys.
Then when they did have the inevitable outbreak, it suddenly became something nobody could control, all we could o was vax and just fence off the worst affected places and pretend it wasn't happening.
Do you honestly think any of the upper middle class white kids who dominate the SMH or ABC have ever even been west of Parramatta?
There's jokes Val, and there's jokes. My mum grew up in Nazi Germany.
I'd draw the line on holocaust jokes. Sure people will differ.
My 2 cents.
Nah, he is in the gun for what he said about Roma.
