Hard to know where and how this all ends. Can't see Putin backing down - can't see the white hats sending in troops to support Ukraine. Any predictions?
Women chatting and laughing whilst making molotov cocktails.
Humanity dies a little more.
the whole premise you can invade another country easily is flawed, and even if you do get the immediate upper hand the people will dig in and white ant you for decades to come, is there an example where another nation has taken over another country in a hostile manner and pacified the people? i can think of at least many examples of where they haven't,I’m far from a military expert, but hasn’t this been an abject failure for Putin.
For all his bluster, with massive technological advantage, for all his air superiority, he can’t even take the capital of a neighboring country. Ukraine still have planes in the sky ffs.
Prediction: a truce is negotiated that is less than Putin wanted
Ah, maybe not the best examples? They all ruled for decades and basically got so old they had to leave office. Tito died in office (was probably the least dictatorial of the three), while Franco and Mugabe both died within two years of stepping down.even countries where internal leaders rule absolutely get overthrown in time, Franco, Tito, Magabe.
Would not be surprised if Putin has a fatal ‘heart attack’.
I think Ukraine will join NATO after this is over, and will be welcomed with open arms.
‘The biggest geopolitical mistake since the Berlin Blockade.
It is an absolute disaster militarily for them. They have failed to protect their lines of communication, they have ignored the reality of requiring logistics: Biscuits, bullets and fuel.I’m far from a military expert, but hasn’t this been an abject failure for Putin.

could actually drag out for years. It is an absolute disaster militarily for them. They have failed to protect their lines of communication, they have ignored the reality of requiring logistics: Biscuits, bullets and fuel.
If the Ukrainian military can avoid pitched battles, this will go on for months. This is going to bleed them white once the sanctions bite. If the west continues to supply the weapons, especially anti-tank/air, then it will come down to national will.
Given the networking of ex KGB i think the oligarchs have the most to fear for crossing Puten, if it does happen i think it will be a grass roots revolt which i cant see happening from the russian public at least in the short term.Surely many of them would be questioning their devotion to the man.

They use their military without restriction or restraint. They also don’t fight near peers, they bully smaller opponents with massive firepower that is not reciprocated against them. What I want to know is, why the f are the world scared of Russia and it’s military. Yes I get they have nukes, but they also know as soon as they use one Russia will become a radioactive wasteland for 1000 years.
Just from a war fighting point of view though, the last 3 days must be a national embarrassment for Putin.
I suspect the wests fears comes down to greed and financial blowback, his oligarchs have diversified their fortunes into western markets and have no illusions that they continue to answer to Puten, they exist and continue to exist because of him. What I want to know is, why the f are the world scared of Russia and it’s military.

Take Abramovich for example, owns half of London and is an Israeli passport holder so his influence has a big impact on both the UK and the US. Then there are the Russian crime syndicates operating in the US. sadly the financial world is a tangled cesspit of which everyone is primarily concerned with protecting their own interests, you only have to look at the publicly the US election generated re Russian involvement. I personally dont know if Putens goal is to push NATO back to the old iron curtain boundary, maintain access to gas pipelines and naval assets in Sebastopol, pacify the people or possibly just re assert his influence. you have to remember he comes from a espionage background rather than a military one.
but one things for sure he would have well and truly considered the repercussions of his actions.
I'm pretty convinced that the West's fears don't come down to money but rather Russia's nuclear capabilities.I suspect the wests fears comes down to greed and financial blowback, his oligarchs have diversified their fortunes into western markets and have no illusions that they continue to answer to Puten, they exist and continue to exist because of him.

gs for su
He owns the media in russia, so whats reported will be favorable. and even if anyone disagrees with whats put in print, what are they gonna do?
If the west continues to supply the weapons.
Too quick, and total, a victory would scare the populations of neighbouring countries to demand more from their governments and allies. He's after disruption and an opportunity to gauge international reaction.I’m far from a military expert, but hasn’t this been an abject failure for Putin.

Disagree with this.Too quick, and total, a victory would scare the populations of neighbouring countries to demand more from their governments and allies. He's after disruption and an opportunity to gauge international reaction.
Fast works when the territory is worth more than the blowback. This is a tragic feint.Disagree with this.
Blitzkrieg, awe and destruction, pick your verb.
Slow, like the blob in military actions doesn’t work. Fast, destructive, and decisive.
The slower this goes, the more arms are being funneled into Ukrainian territory. The stronger the morale becomes, and the more defiant the population.
They will use this in military academies for decades to come on what ‘NOT TO DO’.
Absolute fiasco.
