Im sure Aussie taxpayers would be happy to smash that ****ing dog from Russia. **** him, his horse and his ****ing bullshit. By the way, his ****ing rhetoric fits right in with the anti vax bullshit and sovereign citizen bullshit. Spread lies and propaganda to justify positions of unprovoked attacks. Started with unions and now a democratic country has been smashed! **** fascist dogs

If this was a covid post or a vaccine post 9 campaigners would have jumped in to rebuke (falsely) or jump up n down for a sing along.. the same propaganda the Russian leading mutt is using is identical to the nonsense ive read on this site at times! ****ing fascist dogs

Hard to know where and how this all ends. Can't see Putin backing down - can't see the white hats sending in troops to support Ukraine. Any predictions?

I’m far from a military expert, but hasn’t this been an abject failure for Putin.

For all his bluster, with massive technological advantage, for all his air superiority, he can’t even take the capital of a neighboring country. Ukraine still have planes in the sky ffs.

Prediction: a truce is negotiated that is less than Putin wanted

Women chatting and laughing whilst making molotov cocktails.

Humanity dies a little more.

In a way, I find this inspirational.

Millions of people saying they’re rather die than have their land, their democracy, their way of life taken from them.

If Zelensky isn’t Times person of the year, something’s wrong. What a man!

the whole premise you can invade another country easily is flawed, and even if you do get the immediate upper hand the people will dig in and white ant you for decades to come, is there an example where another nation has taken over another country in a hostile manner and pacified the people? i can think of at least many examples of where they haven't,

even countries where internal leaders rule absolutely get overthrown in time, Franco, Tito, Magabe.

Ah, maybe not the best examples? They all ruled for decades and basically got so old they had to leave office. Tito died in office (was probably the least dictatorial of the three), while Franco and Mugabe both died within two years of stepping down.

Can add in Salazar, who had a brain hemorrhage and was replaced in office. When he surprisingly awoke from his coma everybody told him he was still the president. Fortunately (?) he died shortly after.

Would not be surprised if Putin has a fatal ‘heart attack’.
I think Ukraine will join NATO after this is over, and will be welcomed with open arms.

‘The biggest geopolitical mistake since the Berlin Blockade.

My worry is the bloke has probably spent the last twenty years surrounding himself with like minded fanatics.

But with the increasing likelihood that Ukraine manages to drag this to a stalemate (which is a huge victory for them and huge loss for Russia), I reckon more than a few Russians will be concerned about him losing the plot further and doing something mindless in response. Surely many of them would be questioning their devotion to the man.

It is an absolute disaster militarily for them. They have failed to protect their lines of communication, they have ignored the reality of requiring logistics: Biscuits, bullets and fuel.

If the Ukrainian military can avoid pitched battles, this will go on for months. This is going to bleed them white once the sanctions bite. If the west continues to supply the weapons, especially anti-tank/air, then it will come down to national will.

could actually drag out for years.

Given the networking of ex KGB i think the oligarchs have the most to fear for crossing Puten, if it does happen i think it will be a grass roots revolt which i cant see happening from the russian public at least in the short term.

Agree. But putin couldn’t even achieve his short term blitzkreig over throw. Let alone pacify a conquered people. The only way he wins in the short term is to level the place. But these are his “brothers and sisters” so he’s boxed himself in.

What I want to know is, why the f are the world scared of Russia and it’s military. Yes I get they have nukes, but they also know as soon as they use one Russia will become a radioactive wasteland for 1000 years.

Just from a war fighting point of view though, the last 3 days must be a national embarrassment for Putin.

They use their military without restriction or restraint. They also don’t fight near peers, they bully smaller opponents with massive firepower that is not reciprocated against them.

‘’Chechnya and Georgia and Crimea being the best examples.

I am surprised at their inability to project power, especially in the air. That and their shit logistics in a theatre of war that will never be more favourable to their cause. Their vehicles are literally running out of fuel, like WTF is that?

I suspect the wests fears comes down to greed and financial blowback, his oligarchs have diversified their fortunes into western markets and have no illusions that they continue to answer to Puten, they exist and continue to exist because of him.

Take Abramovich for example, owns half of London and is an Israeli passport holder so his influence has a big impact on both the UK and the US. Then there are the Russian crime syndicates operating in the US. sadly the financial world is a tangled cesspit of which everyone is primarily concerned with protecting their own interests, you only have to look at the publicly the US election generated re Russian involvement. I personally dont know if Putens goal is to push NATO back to the old iron curtain boundary, maintain access to gas pipelines and naval assets in Sebastopol, pacify the people or possibly just re assert his influence. you have to remember he comes from a espionage background rather than a military one.

He owns the media in russia, so whats reported will be favorable. and even if anyone disagrees with whats put in print, what are they gonna do?

but one things for sure he would have well and truly considered the repercussions of his actions.

You can consider what may happen, but if it’s through the wrong prism, then any consideration was an excercise in futility.

1: we can easily invade Ukraine and topple the govt

Wrong! He has seemingly overestimated the capability of his military and the capabilities of the Ukrainians.

2: my show of force will fracture NATO and stop it’s expansion

Wrong! NATO looks like it’s united as it could possibly be. And Sweden and Finland look like this action is the thing that hey have needed to push them over the edge to join NATO.

Even the the stealing of Crimea and everything since seems like putin has galvanised the people of Ukraine, allowed them to prepare for this.

Hopefully he’s also misjudged the anger this will cause back home as he murders the Russian people’s brothers and sisters.

I'm pretty convinced that the West's fears don't come down to money but rather Russia's nuclear capabilities.

What the neanderthal is doing is beyond disgraceful invading a democratic country and killing innocent civilians without any justification let alone provocation. Barbaric actually. He'll get his right whack. No way back for him now.

Too quick, and total, a victory would scare the populations of neighbouring countries to demand more from their governments and allies. He's after disruption and an opportunity to gauge international reaction.

Disagree with this.

Blitzkrieg, awe and destruction, pick your verb.

Slow, like the blob in military actions doesn’t work. Fast, destructive, and decisive.

The slower this goes, the more arms are being funneled into Ukrainian territory. The stronger the morale becomes, and the more defiant the population.

They will use this in military academies for decades to come on what ‘NOT TO DO’.

Absolute fiasco.

Fast works when the territory is worth more than the blowback. This is a tragic feint.
