We're fine. We're at the top of the catchment. Cut off, have been for days. The rain even now is so ****en heavy but its been going on for so long my brain has started shutting it out like background noise.

It was a worry last night as it turns out we've also got COVID - my eldest daughter started to get hot and a little bit delirious.

We thought the kids had gastro till yesterday! So we're isolating as well. Handy but it means we can't go to town tomorrow and get food. (Hopefully someone can get to town tomorrow.) Well we're assuming we've got it. Only have another one rat each and we'll need it for the weekend before we go back into society.

Nothing like traditional COVID or Omicron symptoms. No headache or breathing issues, runny nose or real fever, except for the eldest last night and that happened quickly.

In fact we thought it was just gastro ... the middle girl had it first. Friday she started being sick but it was her birthday on Wednesday and she'd been pigging out on cake and lollies for days. Had what we thought was gastro or food poisoning/too much sugar and was fine otherwise. Was sick for 24-36 hours. Then the eldest girl got it Sat night, was starting to get sick nauseous, so we thought it must be gastro not too much cake. Wouldn't have mattered. We haven't been anywhere or seen anyone. The middle girl must have got it at school and come home as we got cut off by rain.

Last night the eldest got a bad fever and started saying her lungs hurt a little and it was hard to breathe, like she'd been winded. We used a RAT test and she was positive. She also said was she getting was dizzy as and couldn't stand up. Then got steadily worse for a while. It was getting a little bit freaky for a few hours last night, cut off, with no way an ambulance gets here and nowhere for the rescue chopper to land.

Thankfully the younger ones were recovered by Saturday and the eldest girl is good today. I spose we'll find out how good these vaccines are in the next few days.

But i was surprised how it was so unlike the symptoms I was expecting when the kids had it.
