Blackfellas: Well we never signed a treaty, we never ceded our sovereignty so this could be a de facto process of cessation.
This is understandable and seems to be the basis of most of the indigenous no votes.

I think the voice is just a starting point tho. I'm a huge Noel Pearson fan and I reckon the cunning bastard has a grand plan.

If you are sitting on the fence, just read Tony Abbott's "no" arguments. They'll convince you to vote yes.

I haven't even looked at what the referendum actually says yet.

that isnt anywhere near as cut and dry as you imply it is.

there is all sorts of underhanded stuff going/gone on in northern ireland, so much so the "gerrymander" practice was virtually invented there, not to mention the republic/loyalist division is basically a proxy war of catholics versus protestants.

Nah, it really is that cut and dried.

In due course Ireland changed its constitution to remove the 62-year-old territorial claim on the six counties of Northern Ireland after a referendum.

Burning Man lololololol

Geez watching the Gamestop saga on Netflix, shows how rigged the game is over there. Remember watching it in real time, but looking back in more detail, those Robin Hood folks are shady AF.

Just my 2 cents but there are far more important and relevant issues in Australia today than the Voice that the government should be focusing on. Cost of living especially energy costs(it’s out of control), lack of housing, immigration rates, skyrocketing rents, homelessness, mental health, education, health, government waste, corporate greed/grubbiness, crime rates, disenfranchised youth…. Probably a bit cynical to suggest that Albo is using ’The Voice‘ as some sort of short term diversion till something else comes up to distract the masses with.
How clever of him to know he needed the distraction now that he made it an election pledge.

That is Donald █████ levels of greatness.

The origin really doesn’t matter, and I’m definitely not educated enough in that area to even to even discuss it.

Yep, of course... was just a random reply.

And I am sure you would be able to discuss it based on your posting history, as in well read etc.

Fascinating topic.

All its really saying is the earliest evidence of hominins to date is in Europe. There well may be older origins in Africa yet to be unearthed. Not to mention the link to homo sapiens is unknown... emerging evidence there were multiple human like animals.

None of the others made it... one recent study suggested the human population got down to under 1500 people at one point. We nearly didn't make it either. This is contested also though.

Time will tell. Eventually.

Bet you none of those 1500 had a membership 😡
No wonder we struggle.

It is very interesting.

The younger dryas impact theory and some of the theories about what human civilisation was like technology wise before that is very interesting. If they ever figure that out they will have to rewrite the history of mankind.

This is an interesting book.

Haven't finished it yet but it is thought provoking. Fits with alot of information about here a few hundred to many thousand years ago that I've come across over the years.

There is one story about the Bundjalung mob from Evans Head (not the entire Bundjalung nation that was named in their honour after they were massacred but the group that lived at Evans and in the surrounding area.)

One of their creation stories is about how three brothers arrived on the east coast after some sort of massive impact or volcanic explosion wiped out the previous society they were part of. It appears to be the only indigenous origin story in Australia that involves people arriving from somewhere else and iirc there were already people here who they eventually married and bred with.

But the interesting bit is the bit about them surviving a cataclysm. There is the impact theory but it also could refer to the Toba eruption in Sumatra.

Its over - this is what happens when you let idiots from Sydney run major issues.

I know very little about the context of this vote but so many seem against it. From what I have been led to believe its the government appearing to do something without actually doing anything? Virtual Signalling
It would do lots.

Official recognition of the first culture. A platform to communicate their ideas.

The shame is that most Australia find this concept threatening.

And the above is the absolute crux of why they failed, instead of turning the debate into something positive, they when for you’ll be labelled a racist unless you vote for a change.
And we’ll decide what that change will look like afterwards ‘trust us bro’..

Failing to get it up isn’t on the population or the aboriginal people, it’s on the labor parties terrible messaging.
They literally blew almost 3/4 quarter support.

Is it bad that I’d like to see him and Biden debate and see who breaks first?

Seriously wtf is it with these old people hanging onto power?!

People who won't even be alive in 5-10 years dictating policy that will affect the rest of us for decades.

It's quite sick huh. It's all a game to them and they just can't let go.

I have zero sympathy for them though. They dedicated their careers to making sure any meaningful healthcare for the average guy on the street is made as hard as possible meanwhile they have access to the best at the expense of the people they screw over. My American friend straight up avoids going to the doctor entirely out of fear of being bankrupted. He still gets bills from a hospital visit from 1 year ago, from the big stuff to using a paper cup for some water.

Had no idea who this was but looked up some of her stuff and she seems like a psychopath

Amongst a lot of other crazy stuff:
  • Locked her son out of his room and made him sleep on a beanbag 7 months,
  • Didn't make her 6yo daughter school lunch and when the school raised concerns she justified it by saying if the kid doesn't learn to do it then starving is "the natural outcome"
  • Made another daughter sleep on the bathroom floor after wetting the bed.

One of the daughters came out and said it was about time CPS did something so that tells you everything.
Yeah lol she took a pic of her mum getting detained or whatever and said “about time”

The parents were ****ed like 0 privacy whatsoever, I always knew of them and how crazy they were but could never bring myself to watch their vids.

I think Ruby’s sister has also been campaigning or something like that to get her arrested.
