A big part of it is that cities that were mostly built postwar were built for cars. Watched this great video about it a while ago:
Makes sense

Yeah, he gets into that a lot on this channel. Streetcar conspiracy and suchYeah, but also lots of cities radically changed the inner core to accomodate cars and then other trends like suburbia/gentrification/slum clearances/racism.
Lots of US cities looked very European pre WWII. Glasgow put the M8 through their city centre etc.
When I was in Switzerland, I caught a train along Lake Geneva and up through the mountains to a place called Gruyères. It's famous for the H.R. Giger Museum. He's the dude who designed the characters for the Alien movies. Seriously freaky sh*t.Yeah it’s stunning but not a lot to do, so I hired a car and drove around to the smaller villages. That was fun

On the way back, we could see something going on at one of the villages so we decided to get off the train and have a look. It was the annual festival when they bring the cows down from the mountain pastures for the colder months. Fair to say that there was plenty of fondue, beer and schnapps consumed that afternoon.
Rotterdam is definitely an acquired taste, but an awesome place once you get to know you way around. The Rotterdammers are definitely the pick of the Dutch, they take themselves far less seriously than the stuck up northerners.Rotterdam feels like a cold Brisbane or Perth with its very modern gleaming riverside architecture, while much of Amsterdam and The Hague are beautifully preserved and feel far more "European".
Where I went to school, 3 male teachers were all convicted and sentenced for far lesser crimes and all within 24 months of each other.A person in a position of power uses that power to have sex multiple times with a vunerable 16 year old student.
If that doesn't deserve a jail term then I don't know what does.
Women can be, and are sexual predators. The penalties are not the same.
Why do you not have a problem with a teen engaging in a sexual relationship with a female teacher?I don’t have a problem with teenage boys shagging a female teacher, except that the teacher shouldn’t be able to teach anymore . Though I do have a problem with teenage girls having the same relationship with a male teacher.
It’s just not the same. To try and pretend otherwise is folly.

Assuming the female teacher abused her power and was grooming him.
In this context it doesn’t matter, they are still being groomed by someone in a position of power and trust.Because teenage boys are different to teenage girls

In majority of these cases, the female teacher has reached out first to the student, which is ****ed.
In this situation it’s ‘comforting’ the student, gaining their trust.
Gross, the poor victim.

Domestic Violence, females as perps (in Victoria) getting "warnings" and CBO's for serious violence, where men are frog-marched for looking sideways at a person.
But lets as a community bang on about women being "victims".
Of course, a teacher showing special attention to a student in that way is GROOMING.Well I spose I can speak for how I would feel if I had a hot teacher in high school that gave me that kind of attention, I definitely wouldn’t feel like a victim.
My only shame would come from bragging about it to my mates and feel bad for the teacher.

Crap take, Val.
Disgusting.I stand by it.
Disgusting.
Do I really need to repeat myself? How so?

Do I really need to repeat myself?
You’re coming off like your alright with male students getting groomedI just don’t think it’s the same for a female teacher to do that with a male student then it is for a male teacher to do it with a female student.
Males and females are just different.

You’re coming off like your alright with male students getting groomed
That’s really ******* concerning
