I think this state labor government is better than the last few fed labor governments.

But you’re right. Labor took a hit. But they jumped green teal and red.

I think we’re heading near a point where we regularly get coalition governments with labor needing greens or Teals to form government.

Or better yet the ALP needing the support from the socialist republic of Footscray to form a government.

i actually think better policies come out of collaborative governments regardless of what the 2 incumbents try to tell you. Germany for nearly 20 years has had a similar power balance where Merkel had to form union leaderships with other parites to form govenment. Scholz also is leading a 3 party majority atm.

the big parties hate it because it requires them to govern more for the constituents rather than giving them a platform to appease their lobbyists. it will definately provide headaches for the Libs going forward whilst trying to keep the Aust Christion Lobby and Murdock in the frame.

Martial law involves the temporary substitution of military authority for civilian rule and is usually invoked in time of war, rebellion, or natural disaster.
Hold tight we will not let this go down like this.

I drink their tears.

I'm surprised anyone takes the wife beater seriously.

The dipshits who give him money do.

I remember giggling when I saw a poster from this board bragging…bragging… in an an Avi tweet that he donated $500 to the wife bashing grifter.

If Dan Andrews and Labor didn't have such a massive advantage after 2018, then he probably wouldn't have gone so hard on Covid and the lockdowns. He had political capital to spare and he spent just as much as he needed to in order to retain power at this election. He knew he was going to take a hit but he gambled that it was not going to be enough to cost him.

Hard to see happening unless they evolve in numerous areas, including with the hard religious wing of their party. With the demographic change and the internet they will find a very tough time of it. It's not like the old days where Murdoch and co can go unchallenged with papers/limited tv stations

They could start using better candidates. As soon as they put up Guy again I knew they had no chance. He’s too unlikable, he comes across like as fake as his dyed hair.

The main issue now is the Liberals have been infiltrated by theocratic freaks so instead of becoming more moderate to help themselves in the next election, they're going to become more right wing. I think they're guaranteed at least a decade of futility.

This is the conundrum with party membership dwindling, it leaves the way open for hard right nut jobs to infiltrate and take over.

I’m not in Victoria so I’m less familiar with who the Libs have, but I don’t hear anyone talking about an obvious leadership candidate who might be electable down the track.

How ironic is it that they’re called the Liberals but they’re actually the conservatives?

No values, no policy, stand for nothing. They are absolutely useless, they went to the election with strategy of we’re not Andrews.

Failed to land any meaningful blows along way and tried to trash Andrews as a threat to democracy, when you had Morrison actually spitting in the face of everyone by signing himself up to every portfolio known to man.

I’m honestly surprised they didn’t get someone like crozier to run, at least she might’ve been intellectually go against him.

None of them are relatable to the average punter, right down to the way they talk and dress.

It’s bizarre because that’s the same tactic they tried and failed with the last election.

They need to start off by setting some non-negotiables, figure out what the want to stand for, run off of a platform of anti corruption and a hard rule of no conflicts of interest.

They are incapable of it.

Hard to push anti corruption when your leader was former planning minister.

That position is paid in brown paper bags.

pretty good take on the scenario

After they were almost wiped off the map at the 2018 election, they were left with Smith, Guy and Crozier.
So it almost becomes a toss of the coin for the poisoned chalice and any politician with half a brain wouldn't take that leadership.

Gillard copped alot of shit but her government was the most functional federal in ages. And that would have had alot to do with the presence of Windsor, Oakeshott, Wilke and Brandt.
