honestly dude this is the 1st big construction thing ive had to do being a renter since 18 haha, like with such a discrepancy how do you trust one or the other isnt running a scam

Get a third if possible I guess? Probably impossible right now though given how busy the trades are. If they're more specific than "steel posts and sleepers" that would help too - depth of posts and spacing is super important. The amount of retaining wall type fences I see around my estate that are spilling and bowing is incredible.

This is a cost per sleeper if it helps?

It’s hard without seeing the job, even with photos. The guy that gave you the high quote via photos tells me that he’s too busy to do a site inspection and so they gave a price that will be worth their while even if it’s a campaigner of a job.

Ask the second bloke if theres any conditions to his quote, like variations because of underground services or even tree roots.

I just got a quote for a retaining wall, just over 7m x 1m. Easy access out the front.
Galvanised posts, treated pine sleepers, removal of old wall (which I'll be keeping the hardwood for firewood)
Its an insurance job, $23,000
I spat my coffee.
