I can understand the former, but the latter confounds me.

I am old fashioned i guess and I love the sound of a loud rumbling V8 or howling 6. (like mine)

I'm not against EV concept at all, I'm sure they are great and no doubt will continue to improve and get cheaper.

Just hope their is a place for both for all preferences for some time yet!

TBH, your response is weak.
Electric vehicles have much lower lifetime emissions compared to combustion vehicles.
Mining a BTC block isn't the same as a mining for coal or gold or nickel or lithium or whatever, each BTC is mined in competition, so all the energy that the losers put into mining the coin is lost.. monetarily at least, the emissions aren't lost though.

The emissions are nothing to worry about in the scheme of things. On a graph of all the things that cause emissions I doubt that Bitcoin mining even shows up. Like the graph that KangasTechno showed.

I contradicted myself a few pages back when I wrote that they’d love to nail one of these crypto tycoons, that was before I learned how much they donated to the politicians and wrote that they have no incentive to go after them.

It’s already a big story isn’t it? Someone taking $16B and putting it into one of their own companies is hard to hide. It’s already high profile. Shit it took over my feed and I don’t follow crypto or finance at all.

I don’t know enough about it tbh. I know that they’re set up in the Bahamas, probably for legal reasons.

To me the only question is whether or not he goes to jail.

Dunno mate. The company got caught doing shady shit, the other company that was going to save them found out, pulled out of the deal and then it all fell apart. I have read that there’s about $1B unaccounted for and that some people have found a backdoor in the Bahamas and have been trying to get their money out that way.

The truth will come out. I think it happening during the midterm election is pure coincidence.

It was "hacked" yesterday. Millons stolen. CTO made several commits (most he's ever done in a day) on github the day before...seems suss. Also, the FTX was hacked, auto updates ad downloads turned on, and if you do the update you get a trojan. So another way to steal money.

It's getting worse. Hackers are targeting apps. Telegram was targetted the other day. A recent update changed to automatically download files in the settings section. For wifi and mobile data. I don't care which side it is. Republican or democrat. Both parties would have accepted the money and been equally slimey. Only reason it's democrat is because silicon valley trends left and also the links his mum has. Donor money is an entirely separate issue that we could discuss for days.

What I do have issue with is the links with the SEC and SBF losing billions of users money. He cannot plead ignorance because he's lied. I hope all involved end up in jail...but we both know that's unlikely. White collar crimes with government ties = a slap on the wrist at best...unless you're a smug bastard like Shkreli.
