From personal experience….first responders don’t get the mental care and pay that makes the job worth doing.
I've heard about that multiple times, sounds horrible.

RIP to those brave officers. No one should be killed just doing their job protecting people.
Reading the social media material you can see they were crackours. And the poor neighbour killed as well. Very sad all around. Shows when you go down the rabbit hole it can take you anywhere.

Appears that way - a previously normal functional person ended up frying his brain with all the conspiracy nonsense.

Jeez full on off their nut cookers.

“A conspiracy theorist shared a series of paranoid posts claiming Port Arthur was an inside job and Princess Diana's death was a 'blood sacrifice' before shooting dead two young cops and an innocent bystander.

Gareth Train was extremely active online in the comments sections of fringe news websites and regularly shared bizarre - and often deranged - theories about major world events. ”

Just completely mental.

One of them was a former school principal, almost a seismic shift from a role that requires disciplined responsible social behavior to these events. I suspect the danger signs began to emerge when he called out to Latham to amend the school curriculum. One can only imagine the echo chamber these peeps were occupying recently.

Even if you had the best mental health care available, I struggle to understand how first responders can compartmentalise the frequent exposure to trauma and still live healthy, happy lives.

I agree with this.
You gotta be wired differently or and come from a family who lived that life style.

The shortage and constant drop outs under all sectors…..Ambulance, Firefighters, Police would surprise people I reckon.

I'm constantly in awe of those that serve the community in this capacity (be it police, ambos or fireys). Often under appreciated by the greater public despite putting themselves out there every day. My thoughts and condolences go out to the families of the officers and neighbour.

Prolly throw nurses, defense and teachers ( in lower socio-economic schools) in as well, lots of thankless occupations where people are paid unders and are subjected to very challenging mental environments. I tip my hat to them all as no way i would front up for those roles that fortunately i have other options. I really dont think to many people would be surprised by the police force churn, i know about 30 coppers and only about 5 are still in the force.

Sovereign Citizens... I think they should be on some kind of watch list, I'd imagine most are harmless but particularly the ones that live in remote locations should raise some red flags.
