This is pretty bloody disturbing. Every lithium battery uses Cobalt, Apple, Samsung, all electric vehicles, we‘re all complicit in this. I knew they did it but to see it is shocking. The companies that are responsible for this need to be held accountable.

Old Joe is a bit slow on this. Has been kicking around for years.

Also a lot of the bigger companies are putting in place or already have in place modern slavery provisions to try to make sure their materials are ethically sourced.

Joe has been talking about it as long as live listened to him.

It’s not about Joe, he’s just talking to Siddharth about his new book that exposes this to an extent that can’t be ignored. The more pressure put on these companies to stop using slave labour so that their profits are larger the better.

Like the tunnels collapse all the time and around 50 men and boys are buried alive.

Apple is one of the richest companies in history and they can’t afford to make sure their materials don’t come from slaves? It’s so ****ed.

And those companies arent doing enough, as Siddharth clearly shows. They’re just doing lip service for PR. The vast majority of Cobalt comes out of Congo mined by slaves that don’t even get PPE, let alone paid well.

The mines are protected my militias that kill people that try to get evidence of what’s happening. Siddharth was almost about to be killed and was only saved because he had a signed document saying he was allowed there, though he didn’t tell them he was there to expose the mining.

That seems to be the main hurdle to fix the problem. All the mines in Congo except one (a UK & Swiss company) are owned by the Chinese government. Man I feel sorry for the Congolese, when the rubber tire was invented Congo was the main source of rubber and King Leopold did horrific things to them to get the rubber from the trees, and now with the next biggest innovation in cars, they have the misfortune of sitting on the largest deposit of Cobalt needed for the batteries for EV‘s.

Apparently Tesla have developed batteries that don’t require cobalt, but they can’t get the milage that the other batteries have so they aren’t very popular.

china has been playing the long game very well for years now, same time our political systems are fixated on 3 to 4 year electoral terms.
 
Sam Bankman-Fried getting out on bail is some bullshit.

First of all - the dev that created Tornado Cash is still in jail. Has been for over 6 months. All he did was write some code.

SBF loses billions of users money...hundreds of millions is magically "hacked" hours before he declared bankruptcy. Hours before his bail hearing, 250m is moved from the "hackers" wallet...the same amount set for SBF's bail. And the real estate of his parents...the real estate he bought with users money and he "accidently" put his parents name on the lease.

Shaking my damn head. It's like the epstein shit all over again. You know what's going to happen ahead of time and it's shocking but happening in plain sight. They're still running the narrative that he was stressed and in over his head. I swear if he ends up just getting house arrest after all of this...you just know he will.

So the other morning my best little mate was testing my time poor patience, and whatever he was on about I told him "you don't know everything!" He reckoned he did. So I asked him where babies come from. He told me "from the mums tummy". "Yep, but how do they get there?" I asked. "From the dad" he tells me. "Yeah, but how do they get in there" I persist. "Because" he tells me, "they're in a relationship". I told him "yep, you're exactly right, you do know everything, my job here is done. Now drive yourself to school!".
