The debate offer isn't in good faith.

It's the equivalent of Kane Cornes moderating a debate between David Koch and some random North guy on whether JHF should have asked for a trade. It wouldn't be a genuine debate, that's why a bunch of anti-vaxxers have joined the pile-on.

Yup. It's really not a difficult fallacy to see, either.

Thoroughly unsurprising to see a few key people in this thread jumping on it though.

My experiences with Val are that he almost always discusses in good faith. In fact, I can't remember ever seeing him not discuss in good faith. You might not agree with him, but it's good faith. Just because it's a controversial topic which others jump on, doesn't mean the original discussion wasn't good faith.

Lol without Chad here this would just be an echo chamber of bulltish and nonsense. Good on Chad for giving an alternative, I certainly wouldn’t bother because a lot of what’s been said and quoted is, , insane! RFKj and Joe Rogan?!! Good grief

I'm not getting into the merits of the argument, there's a reason I haven't been in the Covid thread in years - it's not something that interests me and certain people have very strong opinions one way or the other, and I just don't care enough to read through the discussion. But personal insults don't do anyone any good, regardless of what you think of their stance on political issues.

I don't want to have good-faith discussions with people who believe nonsense conspiracy theories. And the whole pseudo-intellectual "i'm just asking questions! i'm just asking questions!" schtick doesn't fly with me either.

**** off. I don’t believe in nonsense conspiracy theories. Jeez you’re tiresome

I just thought it would be good to get two people from opposing sides to sit down and discuss their views rather then sending snide comments on Twitter, like Peter did. Unfortunately he lacks the confidence or courage to do it face to face.

You know that he’s had doctors from both sides of the discussion on right?

I also know that he's repeatedly, loudly, and insufferably claimed that covid vaccines are unnecessary, promoted wholly debunked alternative treatments, frequently platforms lunatic fringe conspiracy morons, and continues to attract a listener base of idiot libertarian-wannabes.

Not talking about Val, I'm talking about Rogan's debate.

Whatever. It’s not about Rogan anyway. That’s just an excuse people are making for themselves as to why Hotez shouldn’t do it, even though Hotez wants to go on his platform.

The point is that an opportunity has been lost for a chance for Hotez to debunk RFK and his like.

Never listened to a second of Rogan in my life and don't intend for that to change. I still don't think Val posting something about Rogan is a legitimate reason for Chad to call him insane. It's just not necessary.

That's a pretty clear misrepresentation of what I said lol.

I said anyone who supports the stalking/harrassment of people is insane.

And you know what? I stand by that.

For anyone who wants to actually know who RFK Jr is, including who is supporting him and encouraging him to run for President, then this is a good article for you.

You can even just read the first few paragraphs if you're busy. It'll tell you enough.

Nah, Rogan has done this type of thing before. Last time it was with 2 people with opposing views on veganism and sports performance.

He just let them talk it out.

Sure, Rogan is a bit annoyed with certain aspects of the government handling of covid and how he was attacked on CNN for how he beat covid, but he has (or did have) a good relationship with Hotez. I believe he had Hotez on right at the beginning of the pandemic where Hotez made some predictions about what would happen that scared the crap out of everyone, nearly all of his educated guesses were extremely overblown.

Always humourous when people think quoting Alex Jones and gay frogs is a gotcha moment...except it just exposes how misinformed people are.

Two berkeley references.
