And yes, it was without provocation.

Do you genuinely believe that nothing happened in that part of the world until February 2022 until Bad Russia decided to invade because Putin wants to recreate the USSR?

Obviously that's not what I believe and it's a ridiculous strawman to try and suggest that.

But this isn't the chessboard thread so I'm not going to go into it here other than to say there was no justification for a hostile invasion by Russia.

Ok. So we just have to accept the invasion was unprovoked but you don't want to talk about any events leading up to it?

It's amazing how your view aligns exactly with the formal Washington line on this.

Hey, seeing as the Ukraine discussion isn't gong anywhere, let me ask you a question.

Who do you think unilaterally walked away from from the Iran nuke treaty?

Donald Trump or the United States?

It does matter in the context of this specific conversation where we are discussing people's biases.

Apparently all my arguments are invalid because I have a supposed pro-USA bias, so I'm pointing out Simpin's pro-Russia/anti-USA bias.

Please don’t cut off most of my post if you want to converse with me, it skews the context of my comment.

What a cop out.

ChadUSA: It wasn’t provoked.

Simpin: what about what happened leading up to the invasion.

ChadUSA: that’s strawman.

One thing I’ve learnt from internet arguments is who ever claim it’s a strawman argument is admitting defeat.

You are pro cringe.

Russia ****ed up. Its like they expected to cut up little bits of Ukraine at will, and within a few weeks if you think about how lazy and unprepared the their initial supply lines and invasion plans were.

The fact that they are now committed to this long term conflict with loss everywhere and internal faction revolts just underlines what a colossal ****-up of decision making it was.

They most certainly treated it more like a limited military policing operation than a full scale invasion.

If the West had been attacking Ukraine in February 2022, things would have looked far different - far more violent, far bigger attacks on civilian infrastructure, far more civilian loss off life.

There's a compelling argument that Putin's main mistake was not acting like Clinton, Bush or Obama.

That’s Russias way (thank ****) . They haven’t lost though, they’ve literally taken land.

I think they really did expect to roll over the Ukraine military and apparently they told their soldiers that they'd be welcome with open arms.

There's a difference between taking land and holding it they've already started to lose ground around Bakhmut and other places where Ukraine are performing their counter offensives. As well as partisans sabotaging their logistics.

Ukraine can’t beat Russia. Sure they’ll have victories and hold ground but they can’t defeat them.

It’s a bit like how people think that we lost the Vietnam war or the Afghanistan war, but the truth is that Vietnam and Afghanistan were left in ruin while no blood was spilled on allied soil.
