The Metropolitan police has started using counter-terrorism tactics to hunt down the worst male offenders targeting women. Scotland Yard said it will rank the worst male offenders and then “use the organised crime or terrorism approach” against those assessed to be the most harmful top 100.

This is the kind of thing people always say they want to see from Politicians more often; admitting they were wrong, and reversing course.

Commonwealth Games were budgeted for 2.6b, but estimates blew out to over 6b so the government pulled the plug and diverted the funds.

Seems like a good move. Would be interested to see how people spin it into an attack.

Fair enough.

I find it amazing how invested people get in US polics, noting I do it too.

Since the advent of social media its really allowed people to take sides in it, especially as the culture wars are now the only real POD between the major parties - they by and large run a unity ticket on economics and especially foreign policy.

Its like some massive online role play game.

It's not complicated; they're the sole world super-power remaining, especially culturally, and as such they set the tone on a lot of the societal and cultural approaches to the modern world.

It's naive to think any developed nation can stick their heads in the sand and take a protectionist approach to politics and culture in the 21st century. The world is a flat, open place with only very few exceptions. The effects of what happens in one part of the world are not contained in that part of the world anymore.

This thread is to discuss the other great game, the on goings in the world and the shifting sands of diplomacy.

It was started to keep politics out of the random thread cos people were complaining about it. There were pages of stuff on the US election in 2020. Then covid happened and we were talking about that in there.

This is exactly why they’ll use counter-terrorism laws and tactics, you don’t go after regular criminals with intel.
It’ll be about mass surveillance. modelling funding, tracing social networks, power structures etc.
