The democrat party actually stood up in court and said it doesn’t matter what the primaries vote is, we still select the candidate.
It’s a show

Are they poushing that ratfaced little CIA stooge Mayor Pete again this time?

No one who goes against the grain has a chance, not saying that RFK would be good, just that he isn’t a follower of how the Dems play

It seems like a lifetime ago now, but don't forget that Obama 'went against the grain'.

Everyone assumed Hillary would be the nominee for 2008 and the DNC was leveraged accordingly. But Obama's campaign was a positive insurgency and he won the right way with an inclusive message.

No idea, im still yet to see the fresh faces of the democrat party, they are in desperate need to have someone likeable to come along.
I can’t see them getting away with the lock him in the basement strategy this election.

As long as the Republicans insist on running one of Trump (indicted multiple times, lost multiple elections) or DeSantis (deeply, immensely unpopular), then it doesn't really matter who the Democrats run. They'll win.

I got suckered into that campaign too, I thought Obama was going to be the one to bring actual change to America and the rest of the world.
He gave me hope.

Boy was I wrong.

What’s the latest on Trump? they’re planning on going after him for Jan 6, as an outsider that’s going to be fascinating to watch.

The latest one is about his pressuring Georgia's election officials to overturn the election. Which there are literal recordings of him doing.

And what was the latest from the Biden camp, an irs whistleblower just told congress the Biden family took in 17m dollars from Ukraine and China.

That whole country is corrupt as shit.
I don’t know how they fix it. I don’t know there’s the political will either side of the isle to combat corruption. Americans are stuck in a uniparty system that’s goal is to extract as much wealth from the many, to give to the individual as posible.

🤷‍♂️

Again... Hunter Biden is a non-issue for me.

If he gets a security clearance and starts working in the White House, or even the Government somewhere, then sure.

But 'rich legacy white guy in corporate america acts in an inappropriate way' doesn't really move the needle for me.

Of course the lead up to Ukraine is a non issue for you.

you ignore what happen with Nuland, you ignore and what went on with Bursma.
You ignore Shokin was looking into that exact dodgy shit and Biden deliberately held up a billion dollars in aid to get him fired.
Yes, these were the events lead up to why Russia invaded. You cannot seperate them.

I love this club, I really do. But I'm starting to feel like the grand final breakfast every year is almost rewarding mediocrity and setting a bad example. I want my players and club looking forward to playing a game on grand final day, not syrup on their pancakes in a packed room of geriatrics.

Yep, albeit they'll have the drag of no stop Trump campaign.

I can see Trump running as an independent purely for the $$$ grift.

His dealings in Ukraine were key to Trump being impeached the first time.

Not sure how he can be complete non-issue - though I agree that his drug use and who he chooses to party with have no importance.

And given how quickly Vindman went from holier than thou whistleblower concerned only with the integrity of the Republic to full bore anti Russian warrior and Ukrainian nationalist its entirely reasonable to ask whether he was motivated purely by ethics when he made that report or whether he was more concerned about arms shipments to Ukraine being delayed or cancelled.

I didn’t follow politics at all back then.

How did he go against the grain? Was he anti gun or something? I know that he gets a lot of shit now for not doing many things he said he was going to do.

Getting money out of politics would be a start.

It's obviously complex and there's some good books that go into it that I could recommend. But the abridged version is that after the 2nd Bush term, everyone on the Democratic side of the aisle assumed that Hillary would be the nominee. She was the only quote-unquote "serious" candidate.

You have to remember that at this point in time, Obama was a JUNIOR Senator still in his first term, with a weird sounding name, and not a lot of recognition anywhere.

But, David Plouffe and David Axelrod ran what I personally still consider to be the greatest political campaign in Western political history, and they edged out Clinton in the Democratic primaries. And importantly, they caught the Republicans asleep at the wheel.

The Republicans also assumed that Hillary Clinton would be the nominee, so on their side of the aisle they gravatated towards someone in John McCain who was seen as the best counter to Clinton; not a legacy/family/wealth guy, a genuine war hero, and someone who (importantly in the context at the time) was critical of the Iraq War and didn't get on great with the deeply unpopular Republican President George W Bush.

So the Democrats weren't prepared for an insurgency from within to defeat Hillary Clinton, and the Republicans weren't prepared for a campaign against a youthful reformist candidate. And the rest is history.

Regardless of how you feel about Obama's terms in office and his policies etc, his actual campaigns to get into the White House were incredible.
