I’m sorry that happened to you.

I literally couldn’t care less about what other ppl think, I would never use excessive force and I do not stand by it.

I’m gonna be a copper xoxoxo

Read the article. You'll be a better cop if you do.

Using excessive force is what cops do every day. It is literally the job.

If you do want to become five-o try and get into one the few bits where they do useful stuff - family violence etc

You know damn well what I mean.

As I said I don’t care what you have to say.

You did ask though, happy to leave it here.

Hey Ligma - follow your dream. I joined the Police Force when I was 16 as a cadet (doesn't exist now) and went through the academy in St Kilda Rd days. I duxed the squad but didn't graduate, deciding it wasn't for me because I was too soft. It was a different era then and a couple of months stationed at Flemington opened the eyes of a young man who came out of (and survived) a Christian Brothers College (thats another story). I still work with cops indirectly as a JP and I am in awe of how good most of them are, especially the younger group just out of the academy. I honestly think attitudes have changed and we have quality policing at that level. Ferball, as someone who spent a couple of years in the Police Force in the early 70s I understand how some groups feel badly done by, especially indigenous and LGBTQ . I saw some things that still bother me today. Ligma - GO FOR IT. Good luck. People like you have the chance to make Victoria a better place.

One area where VicPol have dramatically improved is their attitude to family violence, they get credit for that.

But as long as drugs remain criminalised and we have a justice-led approach rather than health led, being a cop means pushing round the poor, sick and scared who are self medicating trauma (while your seniors are taking slings from trhe big dealers).

Tangentially, I do find it hilarious that your 3AW/Hun crowd are breathlessly interviewing restaurant owners at the east end of Bourke Street opposed to athe second injecting room.

Those scum are happy to take the money of serious criminal and drug dealers who eat and drink and their restaurants, but don't want to deal with the results of the trade they're profiting from.

Be careful tho. You start out idealistic and eventually the grind drags you down. I don't know too many happy coppers.

My brother was in the force and ended up drinking himself to death.

Of course! One of my best mates is a copper, she said they are very flexible with things and I’ve gotten a lot of advice off of her!

I spose that is the far lefts cooker version of overreacting to the effects of the vaccine
One thing that's certainly happened in the last two years is the highlighting of every kid who has heart issues. Its hard to take this seriously - one of the first examples of this I saw was a kiwi cricketer who had a heart attack before the vaccine roll out even got to where he lived. But it was held up as an example of the vaccine ****ing people up.

At the same time since the pandemic the excess rate of death in Australia is very high (and some of the spikes match the first two Omicron waves but not all of it.) Its high all over the world and no one seems to even bat an eyelid about it. Obviously some of it is due to covid (and some may be due to vaccines for covid) but at the same time I constantly hear stories about nurses who are forced to work 18 hour shifts repeatedly for days on end, there are flood refugee camps where I live (and I know people in them who simply don't see medical help the way they did pre flood,) full of people who still don't have homes and the cost of living (including seeking medical treatment) is thru the roof.

People tell me they've never seen as many homeless people in any of our capital cities as they see now.

Its as if the systems in Australia that we built to secure a healthy society are starting to collapse.

Also the PTSD - the shit they are exposed to on a daily basis, even the basic stuff like death knocking etc.

I always knew Israel would one day face cataclysmic clash between the sensible secular side and the Orthodox/settler nutbars, but tbh I didn't think it would come this quickly.

The idea of a settler led government free of judicial constraints in charge of Israal's military and nukes is utterly terrifying.
