No, I’m just pointing out that for some reason many years after the alleged incidents took place channel 4 decided that now they care about it.

It’s especially on the nose if it was well known as posters have pointed out.

Channel 4 and The Sunday Times.

As discussed earlier, the reason they can publish now and people will speak to them is Brand doesn't have the protection of major media players and their armies of killer lawyers any more.

Have you read the full Sunday Times story? I linked the non paywall version above.

Its really thorugh journalism.

I find it fascinating those who are on his side.

Same people who were ADAMANT that Joe Biden is a paedophile and Hunter Biden is the worst human to ever walk the Earth.

Russell Brand though? Nothing to see there, move along.

There are plenty of reasons that people don't come forward about sexual assault, and even moreso when it comes to famous people.

They've been working on the story for years, and if it's being made public now, it's likely that it just took them that long to get someone to go on the record.

Free love Camden town hippies..
a lot of this stuff is why you shouldn’t meet your idols. I mean what the hell does a 33 year old comedian, who’s spent half his life in and out of dodgy bars and clubs have in common with a 16 year old?
But but men have different needs!!!

I get it, sex/lust is a pretty common interest, what does a 16 year old want with a 33 year old male and vice versa, they can completely can a consensual relationship and maybe there isn’t some crazy power imbalance with a celebrity offspring shagging a celeb.
But geez most adults I know wouldn’t even know the first thing to say to a teenager, apart how about that local sports team. Completely different stages of lives.

Yeah that’s just as likely.

If it’s true and not a hit job then I imagine he will be charged as soon as possible.

That's just not the way the world works, unfortunately.

Harvey Weinstein took years to take down in the courts, and it wasn't because women didn't want to come forward.

Given the reality that only a tiny percentage of reported sex crimes ever make to a trial, highly unlikely and means nothing either way.

I tried to restrain myself, but alas

As gross as it is the legal age of consent over there is 16.

“In the UK, the age of consent is 16, and this is also the legal age for gay sex. You might feel ready before this, but if you're breaking the law, there's a chance you could get into trouble. To protect yourself and the person you're sleeping with, it's important to understand what giving (and getting) consent means.”

In abstract I agree with you, but since we’re talking about Brand and Fielding, I think it’s safe to assume they spent most of their “dates” talking about themselves.

Yep, and both Peaches and Pixie were very keen to be seen out and about as It Girls.

Its just the age gap that's revolting, I mean if they were out with some teenage football star or music type, who cares.

It really really doesn't.

I've long believed we need an huge overhaul of how sex crimes are prosecuted.
For instance someone like Terry Richardson, this comes from someone who’s been in the room with him, he would basically have a bunch of hangers on, peer pressure young girls to have sex with him on set.
He could get away with it because ‘art’ but once you hear the whole story how they would pluck young girls up from shopping malls etc, take them for a photoshot and then peer pressure them into compromising positions.
Although it’s not technically sexual assault, it’s dodgy as **** behaviour and he could get away with it because of who he is.
I don’t know the answers but there’s whole industries built around this type of behaviour

Yeah, that kind of stuff but also just your "average" sexual assault or rape.

By definition, the majority of these crimes are he said/she said things with no witnesses.

Forensic evidence doesn't count for much if the accused agrees sex took place.

In a criminal justice system predicated on beyond reasonable doubt, its ludicrous to expect results in cases where by definition there is reasonable doubt.

I reckon we should go to a system where the burden of proof is reduced to on the balance of probabilities, but the trade off is that deprivation of liberty isn't available as a punishment, aka no custodial sentences or no jail.

But people found guilty would have convictions recorded, be placed on the Sex Offenders Register etc.

I had a friend in high school accused of sexual assault by an ex gf of his, police were involved, it got very messy.
She withdraw the charge, admitted she made it up when she knew her story didn’t hold up.
The whole episode was pushed pretty hard by the police.

So I don’t know how I feel about the burden of sexual assault being lowered in the above instance, he could’ve easily been on a sexual assault register and had his whole life changed
