But he was charged and found guilty.
Literally decades after the fact for some of the offenses.

But he was charged and found guilty.
I had a friend in high school accused of sexual assault by an ex gf of his, police were involved, it got very messy.
She withdraw the charge, admitted she made it up when she knew her story didn’t hold up.
The whole episode was pushed pretty hard by the police.
So I don’t know how I feel about the burden of sexual assault being lowered in the above instance, he could’ve easily been on a sexual assault register.
Certainly there has to be a balance between, and at the moment it’s skewed towards men getting off.Yeah but this didn't make it to court did it?
Far far more men get away with rape than are ever falsely accused, let alone convicted.
The issue with Russell Brand and the 16-year-old isn't that she was 16, it's that he sexually assualted her.As gross as it is the legal age of consent over there is 16.
“In the UK, the age of consent is 16, and this is also the legal age for gay sex. You might feel ready before this, but if you're breaking the law, there's a chance you could get into trouble. To protect yourself and the person you're sleeping with, it's important to understand what giving (and getting) consent means.”

That's a feat - Crazyburn is no place to idle.Well, after all that, I made it out of Cragieburns.
I can accept that they didn't know he was sending a BBC car to pick up his 16-year-old girlfriend. And that the BBC knew about it and did nothing
In May 2006 a complaint was made by BBC staff about Brand’s 6 Music show, sources said, including a report that people were naked in the studio while it was being live-streamed and there was “a penis going out on air”.
The incident was allegedly reported to Lesley Douglas, the controller of 6 Music and Radio 2. As a result the show’s producers were asked to “rein it in” but that did not stop the show moving to a more prestigious slot on Radio 2 six months later.
Brand was accused of hurling objects across the studio “in fits of rage” and exposing himself and “urinating in a bottle in full view of everyone”. When newspapers reported the allegation that Brand had urinated in the studio, a BBC spokeswoman was quoted as joking that “someone has shown him where the toilet is”.
In one of his memoirs, Booky Wook 2, Brand wrote about his relationship with [Lesley Douglas, controller of 6 Music and Radio 2], and claimed she “was incredibly tolerant of my behaviour at Radio 2” and had “nurtured, nourished and indulged me as any good woman should”.
He wrote that when his show started on BBC Radio, his agent John Noel said that Douglas “said they’d let me do whatever I want”.
Without seeing the bit, I think there’s a line between being a degenerate shock jock and sexual assault, him being naked and pissing in a bottle for ratings although disgusting isn’t actually hurting anyone.I can accept that they didn't know he was sending a BBC car to pick up his 16-year-old girlfriend.
But rather than doing nothing, they actively covered up some pretty bad behaviour, despite complaints being made by other staff members.
True, but it goes to Val's question about why nothing was done about him previously.Without seeing the bit, I think there’s a line between being a degenerate shock jock and sexual assault, him being naked and pissing in a bottle for ratings although disgusting isn’t actually hurting anyone.
That’s very different from what he’s being accused of.
And that the BBC knew about it and did nothing
Predictability, he's now calling it a mass media conspiracy.
Edit: sorry, this adds nothing to subsequent posts. I hope he gets what he deserves.

People have tried, and it was covered up and/or laughed off.
I can totally understand someone being assaulted and, when considering reporting it, thinking back to all the times when he'd done things on air that his employers laughed off because it was just Russell being Russell, and deciding it wasn't worth it.
Should start a boycott divest sanction Epstein/Maxwell movement, anyone on that list you no longer support and actively persuade others not too, it’s the only action us plebs have left.I’ll take my tinfoil hat off when all the people that Epstein trafficked underage girls to are given the same treatment.
They have the flight logs, they have the video footage, but none have faced any scrutiny.
How is that possible? Epstein and Maxwell were found guilty yet their clients remain untarnished. The only one is prince Andrew and only because a brave woman went after him herself.
Where’s channel 4’s or any other media/law investigation over the perps who visited rape island?
Like Bill Clinton flew there 27 times!! Why isn’t that front page?
Drugs and a similar maturity level?Free love Camden town hippies..
a lot of this stuff is why you shouldn’t meet your idols. I mean what the hell does a 33 year old comedian, who’s spent half his life in and out of dodgy bars and clubs have in common with a 16 year old?
Chatting to teenagers when I’m high on lsd would be part of Dante’s slow walk thru purgatory for mind..Drugs and a similar maturity level?
Where would that have left Maj?Yeah, that kind of stuff but also just your "average" sexual assault or rape.
By definition, the majority of these crimes are he said/she said things with no witnesses.
Forensic evidence doesn't count for much if the accused agrees sex took place.
In a criminal justice system predicated on beyond reasonable doubt, its ludicrous to expect results in cases where by definition there is reasonable doubt.
I reckon we should go to a system where the burden of proof is reduced to on the balance of probabilities, but the trade off is that deprivation of liberty isn't available as a punishment, aka no custodial sentences or no jail.
But people found guilty would have convictions recorded, be placed on the Sex Offenders Register etc.
Yeah but if you're doing it on coke, have a massive ego anyway and they want to hear you talk about yourself it would be ****en awesome.Chatting to teenagers when I’m high on lsd would be Dante’s slow walk thru purgatory for me..
Beeb has form for that. And that the BBC knew about it and did nothing
If I had a face full of coke?Yeah but if you're doing it on coke, have a massive ego anyway and they want to hear you talk about yourself it would be *en awesome.
