Why do you need a reference for an internal promotion, or am I misreading?

Oh ok. Its hard to say, some recruiters call them up and others never even take a look.

For an internal promotion, I'd say it'd be good to have because their prominence might push your case a little bit (assuming they work for the same company).

Not the be all and end all though.

Hopefully they are looking through the same lense as I am.

Would they rather hire someone have to train them on having to learn another POS system and how the store works (another manager from another store) OR hire someone who just has to learn how to do rosters (me)

I don't the actual vote will pan out quite like that, but I suspect No will get up. I'd say 85% of people I talk to have no idea what the Voice to Parliament is.

how important are references?

I’m applying for a promotion basically as I work for the same company and I wanted someone to be my reference but they haven’t gotten back to me yet!!

Realise I am a touch late to this conversation but:

They're not really.

I read further that you were saying something about putting them on your resume, Unless it specifically asks for your resume to contain them just put:

References available upon request.

Reality is that you will only put people on there you are sure will say good things. they are next to useless but it is part of the dance.

If the role you are going for is internal and you know the people recruiting it almost doesn't matter what you put in there, they have probably decided whether to take you forward or the decision to will be base more on what they know of you than what you put in your resume (that said it still needs to be professional)

You should never be going for a job where you hit 100% of what is being asked for else how would you ever grow into a role? A new role, especially a promotion should have aspects to it that are stretch.

Having 80% of what the role is asking for is enough, less than that sometimes if you can demonstrate fit for the role.

When looking for a new role, not every shot you take will hit but that doesn't mean you should stop taking the shots.

You're also not up against the ad for a role, you're up against the other candidates and it is likely that they too have gaps in meeting everything. It is why interviewing is important.


Lastly,

A resume is a knock on the door, the idea of it is merely to get you an interview.

Interviewing is a skill, and like any skill can be honed. The more you do it the better you will get at it.

it appears to be played as a smokescreen like the flag debate and monarchy and in my opinion will have zero actual impact on the general person indigenous or not's lives,

so he loses credabilty for tabling an expensive referendum for what will effectively be nothing, infact it may even spawn potentially a further referendum to acknowledge indigenous people in the constitution, and all the while no more effort gets channelled into indigenous health, education or welfare,

whilst the right have had plenty of scope to turn this into a racist issue other than a few minimal things playing out (such as an isolated neo nazi posting threats against the sitting member) at the extreme its pretty well been decided on non racist grounds,

the greater population are simply confused.

A large part of this has to be wilful ignorance. Some of which has been perpetuated by the no campaign.

To find out what it is and what it will do are simple google searches.

It is embarrassing that there is a slogan of "if you don't know vote no"

Yep, Murdoch is a disgrace for our nation and for democracies worldwide.
As for Albo, I’m not particularly a fan but he’s not responsible for what has been some absolutely disgraceful and blatantly misleading campaigning by elements of the No side.
