they go over budget because we dont have any in house departments that can build infrastructure anymore, so the private mobs line up and take turns fleecing us, many years ago the SEC, gas and fuel, PMG , Country roads board , board of works all built affordable infrastructure with extra capacity for the future.

100 years ago we built railways all over the state, now we cant even extend a line from broadmeadows/jacana/sunbury to the airport!
Welcome to neo-liberalism writ large.

Both sides do it, but at least one side does actually build stuff. The trouble is when they try and plan for things outside the electoral cycle, it is attacked as unrealistic. Hence why large rail extensions and tunnels are difficult to get off the ground.

100 per cent this.
or how about more locally when there was a pothole the shire would send out the "road patrol" as soon as it was reported rather than wait 6 months till the the 3 preferred contractors bid on it then it gets prioritised and packaged up waiting for funding, by the time they get there its 3 times the size and has damaged everyone in the neighbourhoods rims.

of course they do it, they all have skin in the game, they cant wait to offload a departments workload to a firm that they have interest in to prolong the fleecing, andrew robb should have been tried for treason!

another example all those barristers in parliament continually screaming for royal commissions to maintain their cashflow, or the big 4 accounting firms rolling round in all that audit cash, actually makes me sick.

The Pyramids are incredible, not sure that mystery will ever be solved. I really like the idea that they are far older than historians and archaeologists have them at, and the possibility that they had technology that we haven’t discovered.

The colossus blows my mind though. Must’ve been massive. How tf did they build that!

I've got a mate who reckons they are a hydraulic pump, well the big one at Giza is anyway.

I'd try and explain it but he only ever spells it out to me after I've had a few beers and a scoob or two.
