So, I dunno if there are any musos around here. Me, I spent much of my twenties going to gigs, and very occasionally playing at them too.

One of my unresolved bucket list items is to write and record one good album. Its basically a goal I've thought about most days of my adult life. I've done some DIY band recordings in the past, had a lark with some mates, but I've never managed to do the whole 40 minute cohesive aural journey thing.

That's what I'd like to do at some point over the next couple years. It wouldn't need to be a commercial success, just something I'm happy with, something that's true to my sensibilities, and something where I can play a few gigs afterwards and enjoy it.

I'm late thirties now. My "home office" is basically divided between the actual WFH space, and the modest but ageing collection of instruments I amassed over the years. Not much writing or any recording has happened since my three year old was born. And I want to change that.

Anyway, I've spent most of the past decade thinking about buying an analog synth. So I finally bit the bullet tonight. Feel like I've also struck bargain of the year, where I talked down some bloke on Gumtree on the price of his DSI Mopho x4 from $850 to $550. Its in excellent condition and he didn't even give off "fell off the back of a truck" vibes.

So now I don't think I have any excuses left. Its time to start finishing some of these arrangements that have been sitting around on my drives for years.

That's sick - I've got a fantasy that some day I'll grow a pair and purchase a modular synth

Sounds like an exciting project!

Home recording is something that interests me at some point in the future (can't play for shit at the moment but have given myself a long deadline for gaining some competency playing guitar).

There's so much that can be done in a home studio these days for a fairly modest outlay.

Looks like they've come up with someone new to distract us from the failing climate change scam.
Bizarre.

My 5 year old had undiagnosed pneumonia a few months back. Had been to the GP several times and was told it was a virus - eventually took her to Monash Childrens where they did a full battery of tests and it turned out to be pneumonia, a couple of days on the right medication and she was right as rain.

What the hell is friggin " Black Friday ? and where did it come from ? Is it like Halloween ? 😡

( grumpy old 10-4 and out ).
It's the Friday after Thanksgiving and has been seen as the start of the Christmas shopping period in the US and has in more recent years seen massive discounting.

It's been building momentum here for the past 15 years or so and has now surpassed Boxing Day as the biggest time for retail bargains, it's also followed up on the Monday with Cyber Monday that sees a lot of great tech deals.

I was just looking at something online and HN seemed to have the best price so I clicked on the link and got this - I've never encountered this on a shopping website before but just shows how popular Black Friday has become.

Interesting.

We're certainly back in the old world of plagues aye.

My best little mate has a surgeon he sees every so often. Anyway, Tuesday was one of such days. There was a Gandalf moment, so very awesome - His surgeon, an Associate Professor, was speaking to some Chemist fella about filling a prescription .... anyway, the Chemist fella questioned the Surgeons decision .... Said Surgeon, took a breathe, paused, then gave it "On the top left hand corner of my notepad, it says Associate Professor. That tells me, that after 30 years of working in this field, I know what I am talking about". Silence from the Chemist, then a very quick and quiet confirmation of what was ordered, and that was that. Pretty farkin cool.

Apparently some mysterious virus has broken out in China and it’s starting to overwhelm hospitals.

They’re saying it’s like Pneumonia without the cough.

Please god no.

In very "exciting" news, Surgeons in New York have performed the first ever whole eye transplant in a human. Announced on Thursday, the accomplishment is being hailed as a breakthrough.

Apparently, the patient having not regained sight in the eye, is a rather minor matter.

They have to face it in the other direction .

Yeah he's flying :) Was born with a disease called Hirschsprungs Disease - or a busted @rsespring as I like to say. Surgery early on, like 3 weeks old to remove 20cm of his bowel ... just has a touch of hypermotility - his poo button is stuck on. He'll be right in a shortly, just a teeny tiny glitch.

Some things are just plain stupid.

Woman wants to run 1300km in Antarctica over 30 days ( 43.3km a day ) in an attempt to break some other stupid record. Really ? 🙄
Expected gale force winds and freezing temps ( - 40+ ) may hamper her attempt.

Sure. Do it. But if you run into problems ( no pun intended ) and you need a 30 person rescue team with snow-cats, choppers etc.and costing million$ to bail you out, bad luck. You're on your own.

Tony Bullimore anyone ?

Kind of crazy hey.
